Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kalea Kulbe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kalea , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk at the age of 34 when after 16 years as an interior designer I decided to make a 180゚ career change and become a whole body healer. I opened my own practice and left corporate america. You’re never too old to start something new and live your happiest life to the fullest. Stop worrying what others will think.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into foot zoning by chance. I was in burnout after being an interior designer for 16 years. I knew I wanted to do something with my hands, be creative and most importantly make a difference in people’s lives through healing. During a trip to WY to visit family I reconnected with a middle/high school friend who is also a foot zone practitioner. Not having any idea what this modality was I booked an appointment for my husband and I to try it. We both felt SO incredible after the zone session that I knew I needed to find a practitioner in Denver after getting home. Low and behold there were ZERO practitioners!! I enrolled in classes through the instructor I found in Grand Junction and was certified in October 2021. As of now I am still the only foot zoner in the greater metro Denver area all the way down to Colorado Springs. I am planning on getting certified to start teaching this amazing modality and getting more people trained. I provide whole body healing through the stimulation of signals on the feet and ankles. I treat the body as an interrelated whole rather that individual parts. It is an advanced form of reflexology meaning I work on the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional bodies during every session. I use a bio-feedback device to tell us what is going on in the body and what essential oils will help in healing. I use essential oils on the feet during the session.
The foot zone solves a multitude of problems by helping clients feel balanced, grounded, elevates energy, renews cells, and aid in the body’s own natural self-healing.
This modality sets me apart from others by knowing the zone works every time on every person. Through this work I also became a certified mental wellness coach. I was noticing that between appointments my clients sometimes needed a little extra motivation, mood boost or energy. Through extensive research I found a natural supplement line that resets the gut microbiome to improve all the happy hormones (serotonin, dopamine, Gaba) that signal to the brain through the gut-brain axis (also known as the Vagus nerve). This reduces Cortisol levels and helps people with healing and mental wellness.
I am so proud of myself for taking the risk, completely changing careers in my mid 30’s, and to be able to bring these healing modalities to Denver.
Some key things to know if you are considering giving this a try is that I can help anyone from womb to tomb. I work on babies who may be teething, have digestive issues, or trouble sleeping. I work on couples. I work on people with anxiety, depression, and overwhelm. I work on elderly people well into their 80’s. If there is a chronic issue that no one can seem to figure out it could be an emotional block and I can help get clarity on that to work through it.
A lot of people live daily life in flight or fight mode. We are under a lot of stress, pressure to perform and busy lives. Take some “me time” and come relax for an hour during a foot zone where I put your body back in to rest and digest.
I am not a doctor. I do not prescribe, prognosticate, or diagnose.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for me has been word of mouth. I have gone to several networking groups/events which I will get the occasional client from. When I am just out and about and meet someone who I think could benefit from my modality I let them know about it! I show up authentically. I practice what I preach. People truly feel the benefits of the zone and always leave with several friends or family members they can’t wait to talk to.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that what other people think of me isn’t my story. The backstory is working in a small design firm where I was held back a lot because I was told I wasn’t creative enough or didn’t have the enough leadership. I would hear it so much that I began to believe it and then become it. After going out on my own and starting my own business I learned fairly quickly that I am the creator and writer of my own story and what other people think is on them. I now have the freedom to learn new things through the messiness, try new ideas without fear of rejection, and live my most authentic life.
