Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kala Majors. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kala, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
When I transition from this existence to the next, I plan to leave a legacy of helping people.
Since a child, I have always been the one to offer support, lend a helping hand, and keeping promises that I have given. I participated in student government, volunteering, and raising funds for charities that I support. I plan to live the rest of my life giving to others in whatever way I can.
I have always loved children, learning, and helping people learn about the things I know. My big goal is to open up community-based private schools that cater to the cultural needs of the children in that community.
As a real estate agent, I help people to find one of the most important things of their life: shelter. Becoming a real estate agent has changed my life; most importantly, I have been able to change the live’s of many families.
My goal is to educate people of my community on how to become home owners and built generational wealth.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
When I graduated from Indiana University in 2016, I packed up my Chevy Malibu and drove from Indianapolis to Miami with no job, no money, and no family. I moved with a friend but it did not work out. A few weeks later, I found myself living in hotels, airbnbs, and a rooming house.
After almost a year, I hustled enough to get my first Florida apartment with help from my amazing real estate agent. She made the process smooth and easy and gave me the confidence I needed to be proud of my move to Miami.
For 2 years, I planned to go to law school and even got over a dozen acceptance letters. When the pandemic happened, I had to be honest with myself and realize I was only going to law school because my family always told me that is the career path that would fit me best.
I knew that I wanted to have a business and that I want to help people with something that they truly needed. Finally, a friend who I confided in my confusion on what path to take, suggested that I try real estate. So, I just did it. I took off and closed 13 years within my first year!
I want my potential clients to know that I am resilient, compassionate, knowledgable and love to educate people on any topics that they need clarity on.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me is by asking my friends and supporters to refer others to me. I also offer free educational seminars twice a month where people can learn about the home buying process. I also give free credit support just to help others because I never got to learn about credit growing up. These days, I even teach my parents about credit.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients by calling them at least 4 times a year, sending holiday greetings, e-mails twice a month, and social media posts. I also remember to celebrate my clients birthdays with cards or gifts. A simple phone call makes people realize that I care about them and it is not just about business.
