Kaiya, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

I learned what I know now through watching and imitating various drawing tutorials online, reading books about graphic design, and my enrollment in graphic arts at Southwest Tennessee Community College. What I could have done to speed up my learning process was exploring other drawing mediums such as painting and charcoal. The biggest obstacle that stood in my way of learning more was not accepting failure is apart of creating success and success does not occur overnight; I eventually realized success occurs through time, effort, and dedication. The skills I think that were the most essential for the growth of my craft was understanding basic art concepts and terminology, understanding basic software, and allowing my creativity to flow freely.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My art journey began at the age of twelve. It began with drawing my favorite characters from various tv shows, movies, and video games and it eventually blossomed to creating my own original creations and designs.

In my graphic design business, I strive to transform my client’s ideas into their visions. I use my skills and years of experience to craft one-of-kind designs that resonates with my client’s brand identity and their target audience. This is done through crafting remarkable logo designs, eye-catching promotional materials, and extraordinary photo-edits that reinforce a brand’s identity across various platforms. In addition to the above mention graphic design elements, I have a portfolio of original character designs that I am constantly creating and updating. These original characters allow me to express a different side of myself and explore personality types, art styles, and design elements. I also have a growing portfolio of original paintings and original t-shirt designs. These original paintings and t-shirt designs allow me to experiment with other drawing mediums and explore new design ideas.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is witnessing my own growth and improvement. I am constantly trying new things and evolving even more everyday. I keep all of my new and old works as motivation to continue to explore new territory and a reminder of how far I have come.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My main goal throughout my creative journey is to inspire other artists, especially the next generation of artists. I want to show others artists that the impossible can become possible through effort and dedication.
