We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaitlynn Hines a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlynn, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Being successful, starts within. You have to see the vision before others do. You have to follow through with your vision and take care of it as if it’s your baby. You have to deny the doubt that you may feel along the way. You have to truly trust the process!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I own a Salon called Simplykait Braiding & Weaving LLC. I started my company in 2017 and formed an LLC corporation in 2019. I opened the salon in 2021. We service our culture and others with braiding and weaving! I also teach braiding classes as well to share that knowledge with students. I am also a realtor! I go by “Kait the Realtor” and I assist clients with finding the home that fits their needs!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

The lesson I had to unlearn is being an over giver and had to scale back from that! Sometimes being an over giver can have you stuck out once you have nothing else to give.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

I met Rachel Ross through posting a status in the San Antonio Black Queens group looking for positive women and friends! She reached out and wanted to be apart of my salon business, so I hired her as my marketing assistant and the salon pretty much grew from there with the consistency!
