We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaitlyn Strother a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaitlyn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
One of the most significant trends I’ve been observing in the social media marketing industry is the shift towards video content that fosters a personal connection. This shift reflects the evolving tastes of online audiences who now seek more intimate, candid, and authentic experiences from brands. It’s an exciting trend because it opens up new avenues for creativity and engagement. However, it also presents challenges around maintaining authenticity, producing quality content consistently, and managing potentially higher production costs.
One instance where I’ve seen the power of this trend is in my work with Alison Lumbatis, the founder of Outfit Formulas. In August 2023, we decided to leverage Alison’s personal social media accounts to increase the visibility of her brand. We focused on creating video content that not only showcased Outfit Formulas but also highlighted Alison’s personal story and journey.
The results were astounding. By mid-January 2024, Alison’s Instagram following had grown by over 230,000, and the Outfit Formulas account had gained almost 10,000 followers. More importantly, we consistently hit our revenue goals each month and quarter, demonstrating the effectiveness of our strategy.
Overall, I see this trend as a golden opportunity for brands to forge deeper connections with their audience and create a loyal community. But to fully leverage these opportunities, brands must focus on producing high-quality, authentic content that resonates with their audience. They must also be open to learning new skills and adapting to evolving trends.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a social media marketing professional, and my journey into this industry began during my college years. As a junior, I interned at Indigo Agency, an apparel showroom that gave me the freedom to explore my interests. When I looked at their social media presence, I knew immediately that this was the area I wanted to focus on.
After my internship with Indigo Agency, I was fortunate enough to receive several referrals from them, which led to the establishment of my own agency, The Mod Agency. We work primarily with small businesses in various fields, predominantly in the fashion and restaurant industries. Our services encompass content strategy, content creation, and posting, providing a hands-off experience for our busy entrepreneur clients.
Our aim is to relieve our clients of the stress associated with social media marketing, allowing them to focus on other aspects of their businesses. We pride ourselves on the long-term partnerships we have established with our clients, many of whom have been with us for several years. This longevity allows us to fully understand each brand as it evolves and grows, and it’s gratifying to know that my agency plays a significant role in that growth.
Indigo Agency remains one of our loyal clients to this day, which is something I’m particularly proud of. It’s a testament to the quality of our work and our commitment to maintaining strong client relationships.
What sets us apart from others is our dedication to understanding our clients’ brands on a deep level and our ability to evolve our strategies as they grow. We believe in growing with our clients, adapting our strategies to suit their changing needs and market trends.
In essence, we are more than just a social media marketing agency. We are partners in our clients’ growth, and our goal is to contribute significantly to their success. I want potential clients to know that when they choose us, they are choosing a partner who will be with them every step of the way, helping them navigate the ever-evolving world of social media marketing.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What has been instrumental in building my reputation within the market is the strong focus on client relationships and success. Almost all of my clients have come through referrals, which I believe speaks volumes about the quality of our work and the dedication we show to each brand.
By forging long-term partnerships with our clients, we’re able to deeply understand each brand as it evolves and grows. We don’t just offer services; we invest ourselves in our clients’ success, becoming a significant contributor to their growth. This approach allows us to tailor our strategies to each brand’s unique needs and dynamics, ensuring optimal results.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that I still work with my very first client. This enduring relationship, I believe, embodies the commitment and value we bring to our partnerships, and it sends a powerful message to potential clients about what they can expect when they choose to work with us.
In essence, our reputation has been built on the twin pillars of client success and lasting partnerships. We strive to deliver more than just a service; we aim to be a trusted partner in our clients’ growth journey.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Despite the remote nature of my work and having clients spread across different states, I place a high value on personal interaction. To foster brand loyalty and maintain strong relationships with my clients, I make it a point to visit each of them multiple times a year.
Face-to-face interaction is crucial for building trust and loyalty. It creates a platform for more in-depth conversations about their brands, their goals, and how we can better serve their needs. These visits also allow me to gain firsthand insight into their operations, which aids in crafting more authentic and resonant content for their brands.
Additionally, these visits also serve as excellent networking opportunities. By being physically present, I can meet other stakeholders within their ecosystem, which can lead to new ideas, partnerships, or collaborations.
