We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaitlyn Parker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaitlyn below.
Kaitlyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk about keeping costs under control when growing. How have you managed to keep costs from getting out of control?
Growth is definitely exciting—but it can be a bit deceptive, too. I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that more revenue doesn’t always mean more profit—or more peace. A few years ago, Copy Uncorked was in a season of growth where we had a full client roster, a growing team of employees & contractors, and big goals. On paper, things looked great. But behind the scenes, I could feel the cracks forming. We were operating at capacity, expenses were higher than I wanted, and I personally was stretched too thin.
Then I became a mom—and everything shifted.
This new chapter / season of life forced me to look at the business differently. I started asking harder questions: What do I really want this business to look like? What’s actually driving results? What parts of this still bring me joy, and what’s just noise?
Since then, I’ve been in a refining mode—simplifying offers, streamlining expenses, and being really intentional about what I say yes to. I’ve found that keeping things lean and aligned—whether that’s the systems I use or the way I manage my workload—has made all the difference.
My best advice? Don’t grow for the sake of growing. Let your values guide your business model. Be clear on your margins. And remember, success doesn’t have to mean scale—it can mean sustainability, spaciousness, or whatever feels right for your life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kaitlyn Parker, a brand copywriter and the founder of Copy Uncorked, a copywriting studio and educational platform for creative entrepreneurs. I started the business in 2016 (going full-time with it in 2019) after working in marketing and branding for a few years—and feeling this pull toward more creative autonomy, deeper client relationships, and building something of my own.
Through Copy Uncorked, I help entrepreneurs and personal brands clarify and communicate what they do and why it matters, through clear, compelling messaging and conversion-driven website copy. Over the years, I’ve supported hundreds of clients with everything from brand messaging guides to full website launches, and I’ve also created educational offers for those who want to write better copy themselves.
What I love most about copywriting is how it sits at the intersection of psychology, strategy, and storytelling. To me, it’s not just about saying the right thing—it’s about saying it in a way that makes people feel something. That’s the approach I try to bring to every project: thoughtful, intuitive, emotionally intelligent, and rooted in real connection.
These days, I’m navigating a new chapter—balancing business and motherhood, living in Virginia Beach with my husband and daughter, and refining what sustainable success looks like to me. I’m still experimenting, still evolving, and still figuring out what I want this next season to hold, but I’m grateful to be back in the joy of the work, reconnecting with clients, and finding fresh inspiration in simple things … like a strong oat milk latte in the mornings, good books & shows, long family walks, and honest conversations with friends that remind each of us we’re not doing this alone.
At the end of the day, I want my work to feel personal, not prescriptive, helpful, not overwhelming. And I want the people I serve to walk away feeling like they finally have the words to match the weight and value of what they offer.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Hands down, the most effective strategy has been referrals and relationships. The vast majority of my clients over the years have come through word-of-mouth—from past clients, industry peers, or creative professionals I’ve collaborated with. And that’s something I’ve never taken for granted.
I’ve always believed that how you make people feel throughout the client experience is just as important as the deliverables. When you’re thoughtful, communicative, and genuinely invested in someone’s business, that tends to leave a lasting impression—and those are the people who go on to recommend you without even being asked.
Beyond that, I’d say clarity and consistency in my own brand messaging has also played a big role. When your copy speaks directly to the people you want to work with, and it clearly articulates the value of what you offer, it creates a kind of magnetic pull. You don’t have to be everywhere—you just have to be clear and aligned in the right places.
Lately, as I’m easing back into work after maternity leave, I’ve been leaning into what feels good and sustainable: nurturing long-term relationships, showing up with intention, and staying open to opportunities that align with where I’m at now. There’s something really freeing about not forcing growth, but instead trusting that the right people will come when the message and the moment are aligned.

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Yes—while the heart of my business has always been client services and education, I’ve intentionally built in a few supplementary revenue streams over the years.
Copy Uncorked operates with two main arms:
– Done-for-you copywriting services, where I work directly with clients to craft their brand messaging and website copy
– And digital education, where I teach entrepreneurs how to write their own high-converting copy through courses, templates, and trainings
In addition to that, I’ve partnered with a few tools and brands I genuinely use and love—like Flodesk for email marketing, Tonic Site Shop + Saffron Avenue for design templates, The Creative Law Shop for contracts, and Dubsado for CRM workflows. I’m an affiliate for each of those, and it’s a natural extension of the work I do with clients and students since I’m always recommending them anyway.
Outside of the business, I also share things I personally love—from lifestyle finds to mom essentials—through platforms like LTK, ShopMy, and my Amazon Storefront. It’s been a fun way to blend my love for online shopping and product curation with content creation, and it creates an additional layer of passive income. Plus, it’s just fun!
That said, I always come back to intention. I only share or sell things I truly stand behind, and I try to keep it all aligned with my values, aesthetic, and season of life. I think that’s what makes it feel both authentic and sustainable.
