Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaitlyn Bundy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaitlyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
When I started my business in 2019, it was more of a side hustle than a full-fledged operation. Like many entrepreneurs, I had dreams of success but no clear roadmap. This year, however, marked a significant turning point—I went full-time with my business, and it has been nothing short of transformative.
Scaling up didn’t happen overnight; it was the culmination of consistent effort, self-promotion, and a lot of learning from both successes and mistakes. In the early days, I leaned heavily on social media, recognizing it as a cost-effective way to build a presence and showcase my work. I focused on creating authentic, engaging content that resonated with my audience. Every post, every story, and every interaction became an opportunity to connect with potential clients.
Client referrals became another cornerstone of my growth. I realized quickly that delivering exceptional service wasn’t just about satisfying one client—it was about turning them into an advocate for my business. I made sure to exceed expectations and express genuine gratitude for their trust, knowing that their recommendation would carry more weight than any ad I could run.
I also embraced shameless self promotion. At first, it felt awkward to talk about my business so openly, but I knew that if I wasn’t willing to share my work, no one else would do it for me. I throw my name in the hat on every “in search of photographer” posts, and my friends and family shamelessly hand out my business cards and tag my business when they see something!
Of course, there were challenges. There were moments when I doubted myself, when business slowed, or when I struggled to balance marketing, client work, and planning for growth. But those moments taught me resilience and adaptability. I learned to pivot quickly, like refining my services to meet client needs or adjusting my marketing strategy when something wasn’t working.
One of the most meaningful moments was when I landed my first wedding client purely through word-of-mouth. It validated all the groundwork I had been laying—every social post, every referral, and every conversation. It showed me that building trust and fostering relationships truly pay off.
Scaling up has been a journey of perseverance, patience, and passion. While the road hasn’t always been easy, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see my business grow and thrive.

Kaitlyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey into photography started in high school, where I took a class and fell in love with capturing moments through a lens. In 2019, I officially launched my photography business, and after navigating some life changes and challenges, I went full-time with it in 2023.
My path hasn’t been a straight line, but it’s shaped who I am today. Shortly after starting my business, I got pregnant with my son, and from 2020 to 2022, I was a single mom to two kids. COVID hit my business hard, and balancing single motherhood meant returning to a corporate job. However, photography remained a constant for me—I was always shooting for friends and family during those years, keeping my passion alive.
In 2023, I took the leap to go full-time with my photography career, and it’s been an incredible experience. I focus on couples and portraits, offering a wide range of services. For couples, I shoot everything from standard sessions to weddings and intimate elopements. For portraits, I love capturing maternity, senior photos, business branding, newborns, solo portraits, and even boudoir.
What sets my work apart is my ability to create a space where my clients feel completely comfortable and themselves. Building trust and genuine relationships with my clients is at the heart of everything I do. It’s the most rewarding thing to document the important moments and milestones in their lives and be part of their stories.
I’m most proud of the connections I’ve made through my work and the joy I bring to my clients when they see their memories beautifully preserved. Whether it’s capturing the excitement of an engagement, the glow of a maternity session, or the celebration of a wedding day, I strive to make each session meaningful and memorable.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients to know, it’s that I’m here to make your experience as special as the moments we capture. Photography isn’t just my job; it’s my passion, and I pour my heart into every session. I’d love to work with you to document your story in a way that feels authentic, timeless, and uniquely you.
