We were lucky to catch up with Kaitlyn Bennett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kaitlyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I am a self taught modern calligrapher and engraver. I spent a lot of time during covid practicing the skill, watching videos on YouTube and then partnering with local wedding vendors to do styled shoots. I by no means think I am a pro but I do know that the more practice the better and faster you become.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kait the hands behind all the lettered things! I’m a self-taught modern calligrapher and engraver based out of Naples, FL.
I started my journey creating signage for my home and friends and family, more as a hobby.
During the pandemic, I ventured into the wedding industry, and The Lettering Bar was born. It has since evolved into creating bespoke wedding and
event decor, teaching modern calligraphy workshops,
custom engraving, live luxury lettering and engraving events and
custom-lettered pieces shipped nationwide.
I love, love, and hearing all of the amazing love stories
that come along with the wedding side of this business.
But I have found that creating heirloom pieces and keepsakes has my heart and doing that with lettering and engraving is such a gift.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes, I feel like I’m always stumbling into things I wished I’d found sooner. Different pens, inks, and the art of engraving! Although, all comes in time and at the right time for each person.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing the joy the items I create by hand bring to others. It’s such a gift to be artistic and be able to turn ideas into tangible items. I also love live events, I never realized how much joy having someone write or engrave your name could be. People love seeing it!
