Hi Kaitlin, thanks for joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
One of the first clients to sell her furniture and decor via Around the House is now a dear friend, and the (absolutely fabulous!) pair of tomato red chairs she sold went to the home of a stranger who is now one of my closest friends in Nashville!
In answering the buyer’s questions about the items, it became clear we were both new to Nashville, had moved from the same city, and had children about the same ages. She clearly had great taste in furniture (!!) so when our paths eventually crossed in real life, it was meant to be.
I love seeing the chairs in her home when I visit; it reminds me not only of how far our small business has come, but the friends who supported my young endeavor, and all the wonderful people we have met along the way.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth has been amazing! Current and past customers are by far our best source of referrals. Around the House Nashville truly owes it’s success to it’s clients.
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
Oh boy, we had a close call about a year ago! I finally hired someone to help with social media, a lovely young person who wasted no time getting our Instagram shut down for “violating community norms” by engaging in “bot like behavior.” Thankfully we were eventually able to get the account back up, as Instagram is our primary platform.
