We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaitlin French. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaitlin below.
Kaitlin, appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
When it comes to me asking friends and family to support my business, Im not going to. Thank you. I believe in fostering a natural and organic relationship rather than seeking or begging for assistance. It’s important to approach this dynamic with confidence and clarity, understanding that genuine support comes from a place of belief in what you’re doing. Which people don’t understand. It starts with you. You must believe in you first. When friends and family see your passion and dedication, they often feel inspired to contribute, not out of obligation, but because they truly want to see you succeed. This organic support creates a foundation of trust and mutual respect, allowing your relationships to thrive alongside your business.
it’s essential to communicate your vision authentically without pressure. By sharing your journey, your goals, and your passion, you invite those closest to you to engage in a meaningful way. This not only builds a community around your business but also encourages them to support you voluntarily. Remember, the strongest support comes from those who are genuinely excited about your success. So focus on your mission, stay dedicated to your craft, and allow the support to come naturally as people resonate with your enthusiasm and hard work. Trust the process, and you’ll find that your network will rally behind you in ways that are both fulfilling and impactful.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
As a young Black female influencer, model, and business owner, I’ve learned that managing a team of even just a strong support system effectively while keeping morale high is essential for success. In an industry that constantly evolves, fostering a supportive and motivated environment is key to achieving our goals and making a meaningful impact. Here are some strategies that have worked for me::
Open Communication: Foster an environment where your support system feels comfortable sharing ideas and concerns.
.
Promote Collaboration: the people at the bottom are competing and collating at the top. Encourage teamwork through collaborative projects and brainstorming sessions. This builds camaraderie and strengthens relationships.
Be Approachable and Supportive: Make yourself available for guidance and support. Show that you care about their well-being, both professionally and personally.
Maintain Work-Life Balance: Encourage a healthy work-life balance to prevent burnout. Be flexible with schedules when possible.
Lead by Example: Demonstrate the values and work ethic you want to see in your team. Your behavior sets the tone for the team culture.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
my journey to building an audience on social media has been both transformative and empowering. It all began with a dream—one that I manifested and worked tirelessly to turn into reality. Here’s how I built my audience, along with some advice for those just starting out on their own social media journey.
The Spark of Inspiration
It started with a simple idea: I wanted to share my voice, my style, and my journey with the world. I remember sitting in my room, scrolling through social media, feeling inspired by other influencers. But I realized that there weren’t many people who looked like me in that space. That’s when I decided to carve out my own niche.
I turned to Google, searching for tips on how to build an online presence. I read countless articles, watched YouTube tutorials, and followed industry leaders. This initial research laid the groundwork for everything to come.
Manifesting My Goals
Manifestation played a significant role in my journey. I wrote down my goals—what I wanted to achieve, the audience I wanted to connect with, and the impact I wished to make. I created vision boards filled with images and quotes that inspired me. Every day, I visualized my success and spoke affirmations into existence. This mindset shift was crucial; it kept me motivated even when the going got tough.
The Power of Authenticity
Once I felt ready to launch my social media presence, I focused on authenticity. I shared not just the highlights of my life but also the struggles and challenges I faced. I wanted my audience to connect with me on a deeper level. I spoke about my experiences as a Black woman in the industry, which resonated with many who were looking for representation.
Consistency was key. I posted regularly, engaging with my followers and responding to comments. I made it a point to create content that sparked conversations, whether it was about beauty, fashion, or self-empowerment.
Finding My Unique Voice
As I developed my brand, I experimented with different content styles and formats—photos, videos, stories, and reels. I found my unique voice through trial and error. I focused on what felt right and what my audience responded to. Being genuine in my content creation helped me stand out in a saturated market.
Networking and Collaborations
Building connections was another important aspect of my journey. I reached out to other influencers and creators, collaborating on projects that aligned with my brand. These partnerships helped me tap into new audiences and gain visibility.
I also engaged with my community by participating in online events and discussions. Networking expanded my reach and allowed me to learn from others who were on similar paths.
Learning and Adapting
Social media is ever-changing, and staying informed about trends and algorithms became a priority. I continuously educated myself on best practices, analytics, and audience engagement strategies. This adaptability has been crucial in maintaining and growing my audience over time.
Advice for Beginners
For those just starting to build their social media presence, here are a few key pieces of advice:
Be Authentic: Share your true self and NEVER care what people think about it.
