We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kairi Al-Amin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kairi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Launching my cannabis consulting company Legacy 2 Legal was the culmination of my struggles to break into the industry. I have first hand understanding of the pains solopreneurs and small business go throw when trying to navigate the process and so, when I found an affordable way to quickly launch my own product, I knew that it was something that the market needed and thus would be mutually beneficial for me as a business owner and my clients as the receiver of this much needed service. And that’s the best kind of business to start
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Name is Kairi Al-Amin and I am an attorney and cannabis consultant based in Miami Florida and Santa Ana California. I’ve done a lot of things in my past including restaurant ownership, music and finance but never have I been more excited to enter an industry and offer a service as I am with my company Legacy 2 Legal.
For too long the cannabis industry has been a place where only the rich get richer. I sought to level the playing field for myself as a product developer first and foremost, which led me down a path of discovery toward alternative means of entry. The main barriers to entry that I had to overcome were cost, time and location. I did not have a million dollars, I did not have two years to waste and I was not located in a legal territory. Fast forward to today and my product is licensed and it did not take a million dollars, it was done in 3 months and while I do have an office in California now, my brand is based in Miami which is not a recreationally legal state.
Upon the successful licensing of my Brand, GÜDAY Brand Co., I immediately pivoted and began developing our Product LaunchPad program which now sits as the primary offering for Legacy 2 Legal.
Our goal now is to make the cannabis industry as accessible as we can to as many as we can and we are well on our way to accomplishing it!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am currently building my reputation in the cannabis space and to successfully do so I think takes three things, honesty, authenticity and genuine expertise on the topic at hand. In any industry though, without these it will be very difficult to establish legitimacy.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I am currently leveraging social media ads as well as LinkedIn outbound outreach. My social media ads are making up the bulk of my client flow. My coach taught me that you can be 99% dialed in on your messaging and see 0 results but once you push past that last one percent, the magic happens as you begin to speak to your audience directly. That was a discouraging concept for me at one time but now I fully understand what he meant. Focus in and be a master of your niche.
