We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kailynn Kinney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kailynn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
After working on a friend’s wedding last year, I found a unique niche for experience curators in the special event space. It is the mission of my small business, Me & My Frns, to amplify our clients once in a lifetime experiences into unforgettable memories. We cultivate a FRNship with our clients that allows for their free flowing ideas to be transformed into tangible results. We have seen success so far with this business model because everyone wants a friend to bounce ideas off of or just to tell them when something should or should not be included in their experience. As a special events liaisons, we do just that. We also provide services like graphic design, merchandise development, personal styling and consulting, print collateral and so much more!
Kailynn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a creative hailing from the vibrant city of Columbus, Ohio, and armed with a Master’s degree in Fashion Marketing, I’ve embarked on an inspiring journey in the world of style, content marketing, and brand management. With a versatile professional background that includes roles as an account executive, stylist, content creator and marketing manager, I’ve had the privilege of working at the intersection of brand and influencer strategy. Whether it’s crafting compelling narratives, curating stylish looks, or spearheading brand strategies, I take pride in my ability to connect the dots, create captivating stories, and drive clients to new heights. My goal is to blend the artistry of fashion with the precision of marketing to breathe life into each project I touch.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is always having untapped talent. I literally feel like there is nothing I can’t do because there isn’t. Creatives have an innate confidence in ourselves that allows us to be open and willing to try anything! Its truly inspiring to work with other creatives and see how passion really drives us all.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Patience! I can’t shout it any louder. Creatives, like all people, can get burned out. Contrary to belief, the ideas are not always flowing, and that’s okay too. I think it is important to offer some grace when dealing with a creative but also as creatives, it is important we are simply “real” with ourselves when we are overextending.
