Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kailyn Sarmiento. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kailyn, appreciate you joining us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
When I was a kid my dad would bring me to work with him. He had his own business doing classic car restoration. Watching him run his business was extremely inspiring to me. I learned so much about being a self-starter, working with clients, and the responsibility of entrepreneurship. I also got to see my dad spend his days doing something he’s passionate about while having the ability to take days off to spend time with his family. Growing up seeing this type of work environment is a big reason I was so driven to be a business owner myself.
Kailyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Kailyn, I’m an online business coach for women who want to get started in the health and wellness field. I first entered the world of entrepreneurship as a Holistic Health Coach. I’m passionate about holistic nutrition and spent years helping people heal themselves from various ailments. As much as I loved being a Health Coach, I wanted to expand my impact. So I started sharing all the knowledge and experience I’d acquired about running a business with other people who wanted to enter the health and wellness field. Now I help people with a passion for healing start and grow their online businesses in my course Online Business for Healers.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had a lot of lessons to unlearn surrounding money. We all have limiting beliefs about money. We pick them up naturally from our parents, friends, the economy, the news, etc. A big limiting belief of mine was that money would never be there for me, money is meant to be spent, it always goes, there’s never enough. This thought process was causing major issues when I first started my business. How could I expect to turn a profit when I believed money is always running from me? I did a lot of money mindset work to unlearn this lesson and I continue to grow daily in this area.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Like many others, my business took a hit during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. I lost clients who could no longer afford my services and it became increasingly difficult to find new clients. Regardless of these setbacks and the ongoing pandemic, I continued to run my business even though it looked like it was failing. I continued persistently. With time and strategic moves, the sales started rolling in again. Even when it looked like my business was failing due to things outside of my control, I never gave up and my business is better than ever.
