Kailia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?

My boyfriend is the best at showing up for me. He has helped me understand my worth and has supported me in chasing my dreams. He knows that I’m a very kind person, which can lead to others taking advantage of the perks that come along with that. He will always remind me that I’m larger than life and he is very passionate about being aware of reality. He doesn’t let opinions get to him; instead, he uses his logic, which has rubbed off tremendously. It has helped me become more assertive and confident in myself in going after the things I want. He also supported me through Cosmetology school and my business. It matters to me a lot because he is one of the few people that I trust and connect with. Knowing that I don’t have to go through life alone and having someone to uplift me and remind me of the work I have to do in my life is priceless. I am so grateful for him!

Hey! My name is Kailia Cunningham, and I am the creator of Kaiis Magic Brush. I’ve come to learn that we are the authors of our own stories. I am a licensed Cosmetologist, influencer, and freelancer of my hobbies like art, photography, video editing, graphic design, and writing.

My motto here at KMB is “Enhance, Empower, and Enthuse”. I want everyone to embrace the beauty they have on the inside and outside. I am dedicated to connecting the world with art, self care, and life’s experiences.

What sets me apart from others is that I have a fantastic memory! I’m like a sponge the way I absorb and retain information. Anything you need, I got you! I enjoy educating my clients on products, makeup application, and hair care. I also specialize in teaching others how to enrich their skills by selling e-books and hosting educational classes.

I am proud to say that I’ve worked with the biggest brands, magazines, and people who make the world go round. I am also growing my YouTube channel so that you can learn more about me.

One thing that I want you all to know, is that I’ve come a long way on my journey to finding myself. The #1 thing is to remember that God loves us, but most importantly, God is withIN us. You will never have to worry about me just wanting a coin from you. I’m dedicated to having meaningful experiences and connections with my clients.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

My boyfriend and I met in middle school (2010). We’ve been together ever since then minus a year or two. That’s over 10 years! We decided to move in together in 2019 and shortly after moving in, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. We didn’t know if it was from his car accident or a genetic trait that was passed on from his aunt. Regardless, the journey of experiencing and witnessing the most traumatic events of my life was.. well… traumatic.

I felt alone and I didn’t know what was going on in my life. I was SO confused. But it taught me a lot of lessons and a lot of important flaws about myself. It forced me to lean and learn more towards God every day. Despite the hardships and the times where I felt unmotivated, I still pushed myself to continue doing the things I loved and what felt normal to me.

No matter if it meant anything to the world or not, I still pushed myself to at least find joy in everything that I did. It taught me to have faith. It taught me how to love. It taught me how to be understanding and have understanding for others.

I am not perfect, but I am growing. God is capable of ALL things. I thank God I can still love and be happy with myself and my boyfriend.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson I had to unlearn was not to take anything personally and not to have any doubts about yourself. As I reflect on my past, I learned that in my younger years, I had a bunch of ideas that I never chose to execute because it was not seen as normal. I would also listen to people’s negative opinions about themselves and things.

For example, I had this black collared blouse with studs on the collar. I grew up with big boobs and it did not flatter me at the time (I was in high school) and I thought about wearing it backwards so that I didn’t feel like I wasted my money. Whenever you choose to do something different, there will always be people that point it out. Don’t let anyone talk you out of being the next big thing.

Another example (let me know if you’ve experienced this), I use to watch Youtubers in my younger years because I wanted to be a Youtuber. I noticed that a lot of Youtubers would say negative things about themselves that sounded crazy. Like, “Sorry guys I know I look like a mess right now”. As a only child who was alone most of the time, I knew the girl looked perfect and was like WTH is wrong with her lol. If you’re not careful, you’re going to be the same beautiful women who thinks they look like a mess. Listening to these things made me question myself 100x more.

The lesson to be learned in this situation, is that the world is bigger than your eyes can see. The possibilities of the world are endless. Don’t let anyone or anything discourage you from being YOU! As long as you’re a good person, your ideas are valid.
