Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaidy J Solesky and Karol Pagano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaidy and Karol, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
Our mission at Nina Nieves has always been to create a beautifully crafted product that inspires the person wearing it. Inspiration can come from many places, but when you put on a cape – the ultimate statement piece – it’s just an instant confidence booster.
We believe in quality over quantity when it comes to garments and that’s what we want to deliver to our customers. We focus on using quality fabrics, production is made in America and our capes have handmade elements, truly making it a luxury product – one of a kind.
As the company continues to grow, we have researched alternative fabrics and discussed having production overseas, but at the end of the day, we chose to stay local where we can work side by side with the seamstresses and have control over the end product. As a business owner, it’s important to always look back at why you started and what you want your brand to represent. It will also serve as a guide to make future business decisions as you continue to expand.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Nina Nieves is a family owned luxury brand with a focus on refined outerwear crafted with quality fabrics. The brand’s introductory garment, the cape, is timeless yet modern creating the ultimate statement piece.
Today more than ever women need a versatile closet staple to keep up with their ever evolving schedules and the cape delivers that. Look at our social media pages and you can see that NN women wear it over their workout clothes after a morning workout class, for a trip to the grocery store, lunch meetings, working from home, date night, traveling and everything in between. The NN cape provides an unexpected solution for today’s dress code, Transitional and timeless it can be paired with anything for an instantly polished look.
Women owned, family born, our mission is to empower the women that wear our garments as well as those who create them and provide the perfect, classic staple for any wardrobe, any generation, any style.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
As a new luxury brand, there are times when the fashion industry can seem saturated and focused on the latest Tik Tok trend. Having a unique product that is focused on a classic style is at the core of our marketing and our brand and that’s the message we convey throughout all of our marketing channels. Part of our marketing is also reaching out to influencers and celebrities. Our pinch me moment came when we mailed Eva Longoria two of our capes with a heartfelt letter expressing how much of an inspiration she is to Latinas everywhere and especially us. We grew up watching Desperate Housewives and have seen how she has become this multifaceted business woman. We mailed it and thought it was like a hail mary, we weren’t sure if she would actually receive them. A while later, we see that Eva Longoria has tagged us on Instagram and shows a video of our capes thanking us (by name) for gifting her the capes. She goes on saying how she loves capes and they are great for weddings. Needless to say that’s a pivotal moment. What is important to note is that our message to her came from an authentic place. That makes all the difference in the marketing tactics. We reach out to influencers and celebrities we genuinely like and it’s not based on followers.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We love our customers and truly believe in building brand loyalty. A lot of our customers purchase multiple capes. We foster that loyalty in creating moments throughout the purchase. First and foremost it’s in the messaging once they purchase. Our brand tone and play by play on shipping status creates the excitement. When they receive the cape, it’s beautifully packaged in a matte black box with a note including a message from us and signed by the seamstress that created the cape. We encourage our NN women to send us pictures of them wearing the cape and using #NNcapes or they just send them to us directly for us to be able to use in our marketing channels. This not only makes the customers pleased that they are being featured, but it attracts new customers because of the authenticity of the content.
Most customers are signed up for our newsletter where we share styling tips, restock alerts and feature our customers as well. It’s a Nina Nieves community we are building and it’s inspiring.
