We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kaelin Bass. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kaelin below.
Kaelin , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
While growing up, I noticed a lot of women are left out when it comes to wearing certain outfits and clothing. For years, it was something I just noticed, until I became a grown woman myself and puberty hit. I then realized I too was left out. The trend of clothing is constantly changing and women’s breast are constantly growing and changing. There needs to be an easy way and affordable way t women can give themselves a breast lift without under going surgery. I want all women to feel included and able to wear what they want.
I decided to do some reach on boob tape and noticed the boob tape companies didn’t offered boob tape shades for women of color, only shades for light skin women and I thought that was a huge red flag. I decided my mission was to provide women of all color a product that could give them a non surgical breast lift and reshape for any outfit they choose, in less than 10 minutes. We developed a skin friendly adhesive boob tape that can left any cup breast size.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Kmboobies is a cosmetic boob tape line that provides women with non surgical breast lifts in less 10 minutes. The boob tape was created to give women the perfect breast lift and reshape for an outfit they desire to wear. The tape can lift up to a “k” cup breast size and is the perfect bra replacement. Kmboobies features 3 shades of boob tape for women of all color. Our brand started off as an e-commerce store in 2020, but has since gained 8 wholesale contracts and currently sold in 10 stores across Louisiana. In 2021, Kmboobies launched the first ever invented “mobile taping service” where professional tapers travel to customers desired location and tape their boobs for special occasions, such a birthdays ,bridal parties and date night. Since launching our taping service we have taped over 40 bridal parties and 27 special events. Kmboobies caters to boosting women’s confidence.
Kmboobies biggest obstacle is building a solid team and having the financial resources to pay employees. Our business is at a point where if scaled properly, we can reach our financial goals, but we need a strong marketing and ad team and that’s been a challenge because we don’t have the budget.
I became a business owner because I’ve always had the urge to help people and solve problems especially for women. During COVID-19 I had plenty of time to think, and one day I was sitting at work, scrolling on a clothing site, and I thought to myself, “I’m tired of not being able to wear sexy cut out tops, backlesss outfits and strapless dresses because my boobs don’t sit up properly and bras just don’t work.’’ I wanted to solve this problem for myself and other women. I instantly thought of boob tape and the name Kmboobies can very easily. My name is Kaelin Marie Bass so the brands name stems from my initials, with boobies at the end. I thought the name was golden so immediately got to work and Kmboobies launched Nov 1,st 2020 and will make 2 years this year.
Kmboobies boob tape was created so women can have the opportunity to wear clothes they never imagined wearing because their boobs were either to big, or not “perky” enough. I’ve always had big boobs and so did my peers and my mom. Growing up, most of the women around me struggle with this insecurity and I knew I wanted to come up with a solution. Women should be able to buy whatever piece of clothing they desired and not feel insecure about their natural bodies. Our tape provides that quick and easy breast lift that women are beyond thankful for.
This brands was created for women of all color. We worked hard with vendors to find the perfect shades so that all women could feel included. When I first launched the boob tape line I noticed boob tape had only existed in light shades and not much of a variety for all skin colors. Making sure Kmboobies had shades for everyone women was top priory when we launched our products.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember right before launching my business during the Covid 2019. I went to California to visit a friend just to clear my mind. I was still working part time at wwltv-Chanel 4 a popular new station in New Orleans. I was building my reporter reel and growing my resume when all hell broke loose during the COVID 19 pandemic. While in California I kept telling myself that i needed to follow my plan and keep trying to get a job as a reporter even during a pandemic but my motivation was at all time low and I left that I should be catering to the world in a different way until new stations was hiring reporters again and thing went back to “Normal”
I believe I cried for 3 days straight and said to myself I should really start the boob tape that I a desperately wanted to do because I knew that could change many of women lives and boost their confidence. I had very been an entrepreneur before so this was an extreme pivot that ultimately changed my life.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started with 200 dollars that I had in my bank account. I sold 60 rolls of tape for 29.99 and use that money to keep buying inventory. I pitched myself to my first retail store 2 months after going live online and was able to land my first store deal . I created a product with great profit margins so I think I get a pretty good return. I focused heavy on keeping my eventually 5 wholesale happy and use that money to constantly buy inventory, I was then introduced to accelerator programs that offer you grants and even a seat at an investors table. I’m now raising capitals and have so far raised 17,000 dollars in free angel investors no equity given away.
