We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kae’chauna Houston a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kae’chauna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I believe my parents did it all right considering being a parent is hard. No parent has a manual on how to navigate or parent. My childhood was normal and my experiences with my parents aren’t all perfect, however they did it right. I was taught the freedom to explore any interest I had. This is the biggest lesson my parents taught me because it drives my ability to explore new career possibilities and new paths in my life. They both in their individual way have taught me to keep going. Both my parents are fighters in their own ways and perseverance was what they showed me. The ability to persevere through anything that comes my way.

Kae’chauna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the owner of TLC 4 Me Services. TLC 4 Me Services is a mental health service focusing on coaching clients (individual and couples) in any area of their life through the use of therapeutic interventions. Working as a master level therapist I provide talk therapy to my clients and their families. I am reality based and solution focused in all the work I do. My coaching services are perfect for those who are not yet ready to dive deep into themselves the way therapy does or for those who are in therapy or have had it and are looking to maintain skills. My business coaching and mentoring is perfect for mental health driven organizations and brands, who needs training or coaching on how to assure the organization meets the target audience’s needs. I have over 8 years of mental health experience. I am currently taking 2025 workshop and speaking engagement bookings.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back yes I would. I believe that the work I do is rooted in my purpose in life. I believe that this is exactly what I would be doing. As a child I wanted to be an author and hairstylist, looking back other than doing hair I am doing exactly what I want to do. I also at some point wanted to be engaged in the criminal justice system and I through my trainings, workshops, and board members spots, I have been able to. So I believe this is a choice I didn’t necessarily choose it chose me and I am so happy it did.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think being authentic is what is most needed. To reach other people and help them through their individual struggles one has to be authentic. Being authentic is a must in this field because it is what many people are looking for when seeking help in the mental health field. These are people who are trying to find their most authentic version of themselves and being authentic as their helper you naturally inspire them and show them how to do so.
