We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kadijatu Grace Ahene-Kamara a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kadijatu Grace, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
I started a vision and mission to serve the underserved and organization call psychology of Winning where I saw that there’s a need for mindset change in this day and age that we find ourselves and so I travel 2 to 3 times every year to serve my people my community and my country and in transforming one young mind at a time creating Generational leaders.
Kadijatu Grace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am kadijatu Grace Ahene, a woman on a mission to amplify the significance of creativity and leadership. I know this because the gift of creativity has helped me pull through some of the lowest experiences of my life. From braiding hair to pay my school loans, to singing, acting, petty trading, from writing, speaking and now to transformational coaching, my history of creative work is literarily endless. I believe this can be true for many more people with the right mindset and support
Our organization – Psychology of Winning was birthed from a place of dissatisfaction. I desired more; to build and transform the minds of the young; creating generational leaders that live on; a movement that is more than words, an organization that keeps evolving, a brand that will continue to impact the lives of those psychologically incapacitated, and mentor those who need the right motivation to make a change. From being homeless, Psychology Of Winning is now itinerant – establishing it stronghold in Africa as we foster our ideals to gain recognition on a global pedestal.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the lessons that I had to unlearn is been in a hurry see in life everybody has a story everybody has a song everybody’s is just a little bit different and in my keys I was in so much of a hurry to be a success to get to places without trust in the process and so I try to rush myself and to get in there and then as I almost got there I realize that there’s some missing pieces to the puzzle and so I had to start all over in my studying over there I realize that in life one has to be able be willing and be ready to unlearn and relearn again to always stop and smell the roses always give yourself part in the back and say I woke up today and there’s hope tomorrow
Have you ever had to pivot?
So my other business is called dijastouch Designs in dijastouch Designs it came from a place of dissatisfaction I couldn’t find myself but then I wanted something to tell my story even before people hear it from me and so I started making shoes designing shoes using African fabric for me this was a movement this was for every woman every male out there to know and belong to the empowerment era and sold one of the mistakes that I made when poverty hit I went from Grace to Ground Zero and so I had to start all over lost everything and had to move to a different state from scratch with $100 to my name and so what I started doing was in the cold I want to trade shows here and there did online services for people to consultation given them comfort elegant and culture
