Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaden Gardner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaden, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
From a very young age I always knew I wanted to pursue something artistically. But i’m sure as many others had heard when they were kids, that becoming an artist or a musician etc. would be very difficult, and the term “starving artist” was always thrown around a lot. In today’s day and age though it has never been easier to become an artist or pursue anything you’re passionate about. Thanks to social media and the internet, things such as instagram, youtube, tiktok, twitter, facebook and many more have made it easier than ever to get your work out there and seen by the masses. So i’m very glad I grew up in the time that I did as an artist.
Kaden, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
A little about myself, my name is Kaden Gardner and I was born and raised here in Arizona. I am 27 years old and have been creating art all of my life and have been working as a graphic designer/production artist for the last 9 years. For my personal artistic endeavors, I specialize in any and all things line-work. While I do quite a bit of digital art, my personal favorite has always been drawing with pen and ink. Anything from portraits to mandalas to trippy abstract are all things I love drawing. I am also quite the nerd and love drawing stuff from my favorite video games, cartoons, anime, and movies.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The main thing I wish I had taken advantage of sooner was social media. Growing up I always created art but never knew what to do with it after the completion. When I was around 20 I finally realized that social media was the outlet I needed to start taking advantage of. While yes having your art displayed at an exhibit or a gallery is nice, with one picture on the internet, your art will be seen by more people in 10 minutes than and entire month of people walking through a gallery, perhaps even more.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is just creating something that people appreciate or resonate with. While my art usually has no deep profound meaning behind it. I just like creating things I like or find appealing, or creating fan art of other medias that I appreciate. That’s been the coolest thing about being an artist, just finding people who also share similar interests as me, wether that be a similar interest in a video game, movie, anime, or even just the creation of art itself.
