Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kadejsha Riddles. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kadejsha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful is honestly determined by your definition of what success truly is. Over the years and with life experiences my idea of success has changed quite a bit. Yes I still believe being financially stable is apart of it but honestly.. true wealth for me is peace in every aspect of life as well as elevation.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My story is still being written daily but to give you a little insight I’ll start here.. I’m Kadejsha Riddles, a Licensed cosmetologist and cosmetics brand owner in the NC area. I come from a strong entrepreneurial background, as my parents have been entrepreneurs my entire life. My father is a celebrity/master barber of 27 yrs & counting. My mother is a now retired master cosmetologist, she actively practiced for 28 yrs. They both owned their own salon/shop as well. I grew up watching them thrive in our small hometown and even though everyone around me asked if I’d follow in their footsteps.. I wasn’t sure if I would at the time. I’ve always been into hair I just didn’t know I loved it and I’ve always been a lipgloss girl! In 2017 I decided to enroll in cosmetology school and it was there I really fell in love with it all. I was the only student ever to finish their 2 yr program in 8 months. I was licensed as of Oct 2018. In 2020 I birthed my cosmetics business (The Kissed Kollection) I’ve had great success with both it and my cosmetology career (TGBAG) and this is truly only the beginning! I think what sets me apart is what drives me and that’s helping people feel good about themselves .. whether in my chair or by purchasing products from me. I always move with pure intentions, hand in hand with God and it truly makes a difference.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As far as my clientele where doing hair is concerned… IG/FB & word of mouth have been the best sources for me. Lots of people contact me via social media and my clients send people my way as well. It pretty much works the same way for my cosmetics business except TikTok comes into play as well. I plan to really tap back into my social media platforms here soon because they are effective and I actually enjoy creating content.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well for a few years I’d taken a break from doing hair and slowed down with my cosmetics business as well due to my environment and situation. I was going through a traumatic situation and thankfully found the courage to leave for the better. Once doing so I stepped out on faith (2 1/2 mo pregnant at the time) and moved back to the city I’d been doing hair in before… started from ground zero and built a clientele of genuine people who care for me and vice versa. I worked up until 4 days before having my second child. During this time I faced many challenges but I never gave up and I never will. Both businesses are and will thrive in Jesus name.
