We were lucky to catch up with Kadeisha Placide recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kadeisha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for my businesses came from a real need I saw in my own life and community. Classic Beauty Studio is part of my family’s legacy — I helped shape it into NYC’s #1 clean beauty and wellness salon because I knew people of color deserved luxury, ethical beauty services designed with us in mind.
Women In Power Collective came from recognizing that so many high-impact Women of Color were striving for success but often neglecting themselves along the way. I wanted to create what I couldn’t find — a supportive community that combines mentorship, business resources, wellness, and financial literacy to help women thrive holistically.
What excited me most was knowing I was solving a real problem: when we support the whole woman — mind, body, and spirit — we create sustainable success and generational impact. That’s the heart behind everything I build — purpose-driven spaces for women to lead, grow, and transform their communities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Kadeisha Placide — a beauty and wellness entrepreneur, consultant, speaker and community builder dedicated to empowering high-impact Women of Color. I’m the Co-Owner of Classic Beauty Studio, NYC’s top clean beauty and wellness salon, and the founder of Women In Power Collective, a membership community helping women thrive mentally, spiritually, and professionally.
I got into this industry because I grew up seeing how self-care and community can truly transform lives. At Classic Beauty Studio, we offer luxury hair, skin, and lash services rooted in clean beauty — providing people of color with high-quality, ethical care they deserve.
With Women In Power Collective, I wanted to solve a bigger problem: so many ambitious Women of Color pour into everyone else but lack spaces to pour back into themselves. We bring them mentorship, business tools, financial literacy, wellness resources, and real community — all in one ecosystem that helps them build sustainable success without sacrificing their well-being.
What sets me apart is that everything I build is purpose-driven. I’m proud that Classic Beauty Studio is more than a salon — it’s a trusted wellness destination — and Women In Power Collective is more than a network — it’s a movement for generational impact.
If you remember one thing about me and my work, let it be this: when you support the whole woman, you uplift families, businesses, and entire communities. That’s the legacy I’m building every day.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One moment that really tested and strengthened my resilience was during the early days of growing Classic Beauty Studio. When I stepped in to help shape our family-run salon into NYC’s top clean beauty destination, I knew we were taking a big risk. We were pioneering a clean beauty standard specifically for people of color at a time when that conversation was still emerging — and not everyone believed there was a market for it.
I remember there were seasons when it felt like every obstacle hit at once — unexpected financial setbacks, supplier challenges, and moments when our vision was questioned. There were nights when I’d leave the salon late, exhausted but determined, asking myself if I was crazy to push so hard for something different.
But I knew we were filling a real gap — our clients deserved better products, better service, and a space that truly understood them. So I kept showing up, pivoting, learning the business side inside and out, and leaning on my faith and family when doubt crept in.
That same resilience shaped Women In Power Collective too. I launched it because I saw so many Women of Color, like myself, carrying the weight of success while silently struggling with burnout and isolation. Building this community during uncertain times took courage — but my own experience reminded me that if you stand firm in your vision, you can create the spaces that others are still waiting for.
Those moments taught me that resilience isn’t about having it all together — it’s about standing firm when things fall apart, staying true to your purpose, and trusting that the seeds you plant will bloom in their season.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media was never just about chasing numbers — it was about creating real connection and trust. For Classic Beauty Studio, I knew people needed to see and feel what made us different: clean beauty, luxury self-care, and a welcoming space for people of color. So, we focused on showing authentic behind-the-scenes moments, real client transformations, and educational content about clean beauty.
When I launched Women In Power Collective, I leaned even more into storytelling. I shared my own journey openly — the challenges of being a woman of color in business, the importance of mental wellness, and the reality of juggling purpose, family, and growth. That honesty attracted other women who saw themselves in my story and wanted to grow with me.
My biggest advice for anyone starting out: be clear about who you’re serving and why. Show up consistently — but show up as you. Share your wins and your lessons. Use your platform to teach, inspire, and invite people into your mission. Community always grows faster than a follower count — when people feel connected to your why, they’ll stick around and share your story for you.
Also, don’t be afraid to experiment. Some posts will flop, some will resonate deeply — but every piece of content teaches you what your audience needs from you. Listen, learn, and keep showing up with purpose. That’s what turns followers into a real community.
