Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kadarah Hardaway. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kadarah, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me was considered me. There are to many times where people have recommended me, brought me up to their loved one, friends, whomever for food, meals, counseling, the list goes on and on. I’m really a simple person but to be considered meant someone thought about me, my work ethic, my personality, who I am and what I represent enough to recommend me and my services.
Kadarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a Recreation Therapist specializing in assisting adults grappling with PTSD, substance abuse, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and more, I’ve gleaned invaluable insights about life and self-appreciation. Growing up as a Southern woman, mastering the art of cooking felt like a cultural inheritance, shaped by the nurturing guidance of my grandmothers, mother, aunts, and uncles. Food, irrespective of origin, serves as a universal language of love. My culinary journey formally began under the tutelage of remarkable mentors like Ms. Geraldine in Memphis, TN, and Ms. Veronica Bailey in Murfreesboro, TN. Transitioning from my humble beginnings in the canteen, I ventured into meal preparation for others at the suggestion of my friend and fitness trainer, Adrian Taylor. Thus, Kdskytchn was born, named by my Aunt Shell, a venture infused with my unique touch and vision. While balancing a conventional 9-5 job, I delved into catering, private dinners, and personalized meal plans, drawing on my sports nutrition certification and expertise as a certified health and life coach. This multifaceted journey unfolded organically, spurred by the desire to offer diverse, tailored meal options aligned with various diets and fitness regimens. Additionally, my role as a life coach evolved from the profound healing dialogues shared with patients during therapy sessions. Embracing individuals without judgment and guiding them toward self-improvement and a higher quality of life has become my passion. Ultimately, my aim is to empower others to embrace their authenticity and seize every opportunity to thrive in this journey called life.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Always Being True to Yourself and Always being open to Growing and Expanding and not limiting your beliefs about yourself. I know it cliche to say Authenticity is your best bet but it is. When you know who you are and accept you for you no one or nothing in this world can stop you but you. You have to be Yourself and be okay with whether people stay or go. The right people who you need will always find you. Not being true to who you really are is a betrayal to yourself and clientele. People are loyal to you because of who you are, how you make them feel, and if they feel like they can trust you and of course if your work is Great.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In any endeavor, whether it be in your profession or area of expertise, consistency, reliability, integrity, and quality are paramount. Consistency entails steadfast commitment to showing up and maintaining a work ethic and standard of excellence, regardless of circumstances. Every opportunity deserves your full attention, as it may serve as a stepping stone to greater prospects. Reliability, as my grandmother wisely imparted, hinges on the principle of keeping one’s word, for it is the foundation of trust. Upholding the integrity and quality of your work should never be compromised. Transparency and honesty in addressing issues with customers foster trust and credibility. When clients know they can rely on your unwavering dedication and consistently high-quality output, they will inevitably return.
