We were lucky to catch up with Kacie Walls recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kacie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
The biggest trend I am seeing in travel since the end of 2023 is more families are taking those bucket list vacations with their kids and together instead of waiting until they retire. So far in 2024 I have booked multiple families to Japan, Italy, Germany, London and Paris and they are taking their kids with them, with most being under the age of 18. I love the fact that parents are taking their children to other countries around the world to see the different culture and traditions,
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a full-time travel advisor with Travelista Travels. I am located in Ocean City, MD but since I work from home, I have clients all over the USA. I have been a travel advisor for over 6 years and for the last 3 years have added Destination Weddings Travel Advisor to my resume. I book travel and weddings for clients all over the world and in every content. I personally travel with my 4-year-old son Tanon who has autism and have since taken the travel advisor autism certification to help other families with children with a disability be able to travel and live out their dreams as well.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I started in travel back in 2017 while working as a teacher. I have always loved traveling and traveled a lot as a child. I reached out to a local agency and was brought on as an assistant I would call it. I helped her book her travels and started to learn the business better. In September 2019 I had my son Tanon and had moved on to a new company Travelista Travels, I was slowly booking trips but not a lot of them, while I was home on maternity leave with Tanon I was able to really focus on my travel business and it started to grow. And did it grow! By the time my 6 weeks was up on maternity leave I knew I was not going back to work and was ready to do travel full time. In Nov 2019 I went into the travel business full time, and I have not regrated it once. I have built my business up from nothing to selling a million dollars a year as an independent agent and I get to show my son how amazing this beautiful world is
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media audience on facebook and am still building it. I honestly had to learn how to share on facebook to help my business grow. I however do not want my Facebook to be just business, I love for my clients and followers to see me and who I am. I share my travels, what I book and sales going on, but I also share my son, our love for living at the beach and my everyday life as well. To me it is a business page but people should know the real me and who I am.
