Kacie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mom has founded two companies of her own, Affair with Flair (a special event company) and Lotus Network (a women’s non-profit organization). Growing up, I would watch her work in between making breakfast and carpool drop-offs. She made it look easy although it was anything but that. I would help my mom set up weddings, assemble guest gift bags and stuff invitations. I got a first hand taste of the hard work it took to make an event come to fruition. My parents instilled a sense of ownership and responsibility in me at a young age. My mom always used to say her work was a labor of love. She loved what she did. I knew when I grew up, I would want my work to be something I was passionate about. I was fascinated by the creative freedom she had. I remember seeing the letterhead on her company stationary and feeling a sense of pride. I like that my work allows me the opportunity to create unique and meaningful heirlooms that my clients will wear and then can pass on to future generations.
Kacie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
With family in the jewelry business, it was only natural for me to be born with glitter in my veins. I have been in the industry for over 15 years. After working for a leading high-end jewelry retailer for 5 years where I was the specialist for David Yurman and Ippolita, I got my diamond certification from GIA. I began Signature 24 Jewelers with the intention of selling timeless, fashionable, high quality jewels. I offer a curated selection of jewelry that can be worn every day, a night on the town or a wedding or special event. From personalized pieces to engagement rings, I enjoy assisting my clients in picking out the perfect piece for themselves or loved ones. I also love helping to build a collection or being a part of a timeless keepsake. For me, the design process is one of the most satisfying parts of my job. Starting with an idea and helping the client bring it to life is rewarding, as I know there is meaning and love behind the design and every step beyond that is done with the highest quality and attention to detail.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A significant portion of my business was selling at shows, personal parties, and holiday events. When covid hit, I needed to pivot as those selling modes were no longer possible. While I already had a website in place, I ramped up virtual appointments, personalized piece selections, and zoom engagement ring appointments. This allowed me to continue offering personalized customer service and broaden my reach.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our best source of new clientele is word of mouth. When a client is satisfied with the unique level of customer service and the unmatched quality of their special piece, the best review we can get is sharing our information with those they care for. Client’s friends and friends of friends is the most consistent and revolving source of new clientele.
