We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaché Stewart a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaché, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I’ve been able to earn a full-time living as a hairstylist for a little over eight years now. My journey actually started out of frustration at my last traditional job. I was on break one day reading You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero, and the line ‘Quit that dumb job!’ hit me hard. In that moment, I realized I was ready to bet on myself. I quit immediately, committed to using my God-given creative skills, and started promoting myself as a full-time hairstylist.
It definitely wasn’t successful from day one. The major milestone was fully believing I could do it. I marketed myself consistently on social media, built genuine relationships with clients, and let my work speak for itself. Over time, my family—who originally thought I was a little crazy—saw my dedication and the positive feedback I was getting, and they became my biggest supporters.
If I could have sped up the process, I would’ve trusted my creativity sooner and leaned into my faith earlier. Belief IS the first and final step. Once I decided that success was the only option, everything else followed.

Kaché, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kache’ Stewart, and I’m the founder of The Rockstar Xperience. I’ve been in the hair industry for about 15 years total, and I started my professional career as a hairstylist in 2017. What initially drew me into this industry was my natural creative ability — doing hair was something God gave me effortlessly, and over time I realized it wasn’t just a hobby, it was my calling. I turned that gift into a business and a brand centered around helping people feel confident, polished, and unforgettable.
The Rockstar Xperience offers luxury hairstyling services, custom wigs, and educational content for clients and stylists. Whether someone needs a flawless install, a high-quality ready-to-wear wig, or guidance on improving their own beauty skills, my goal is always the same: to elevate their look and their self-esteem. I solve the problem of inconsistency and lack of trust that many clients experience in the beauty world. When people come to me, they know they’ll receive professionalism, quality, and an experience tailored to them.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge creativity, education, and personal connection. I don’t just do hair — I transform people. I pay attention to detail, I personalize every service, and I truly care about how my clients feel when they walk out. My brand is rooted in excellence, authenticity, and faith. I’ve also built a platform through YouTube and social media where I give free education and transparent insights into the industry to help others grow.
I’m most proud of the impact The Rockstar Xperience has had on people’s confidence and careers. I’ve helped clients look and feel like the best version of themselves, and I’ve helped aspiring stylists gain clarity, skills, and direction. What I want people to know about me and my brand is that everything I do is intentional. Whether it’s a service, a wig, or a piece of content, my focus is always on quality, elevation, and serving people with excellence.
The Rockstar Xperience is more than hair — it’s the confidence, transformation, and inspiration that comes with it.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Honestly, my entire journey in the hair industry is a testament to resilience. People often think being a hairstylist is just about building clientele and standing behind the chair, but there’s an entire world of business, reinvention, and persistence behind the scenes.
I started traditionally — as an unlicensed hairstylist in high school, taking clients after school just for fun. In college, I became the go-to dorm hairstylist, and that’s when I began to see my gift through an entrepreneurial lens. After graduating, I quit my job and committed to becoming a full-time hairstylist.
My next big leap was moving to Atlanta. I started at the bottom as a salon assistant, then a year later I was renting my own booth, and a year after that, I opened my own salon. Salon ownership is where my resilience was truly tested. I had to learn the business side of the beauty industry quickly — managing people, systems, overhead, turnover, and customer experience — all while still being the artist. Those four years taught me discipline, leadership, and how much opportunity exists when you understand both the creative and operational sides of this industry.
Now I’m in a completely new chapter in Los Angeles, stepping fully into my identity as a creative hairstylist. I’m merging all my artistry, experience, and grit to work in the production world and serve celebrity and on-set clientele. Every stage required me to stretch, adapt, and believe in myself, and that resilience is what continues to carry me forward.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to align fully with God’s plan for my life. I know He’s given me multiple gifts and talents, and my goal is to use them boldly and intentionally. I’ve surrendered my own timeline and expectations, and I’m allowing Him to guide each step.
Right now, my focus is simply to show up creatively on every platform and in every space He leads me to. I want my work to reflect purpose, excellence, and authenticity. And through that, I hope to inspire other creative hairstylists to embrace their gifts, trust their path, and operate from a place of faith and confidence.
