We recently connected with K. Reshay and have shared our conversation below.
K. , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Being successful takes lots of hard work and dedication. I’ve been in the literary industry since the debut of my first novel, “Appearances.” You have to have tough skin and be able to handle everything that comes with it. I’ve received bad book reviews and great book reviews. I’ve also been blessed to meet some amazing people. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
K. , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began writing at the age of eight. I finally completed my first novel in 2017. Since then I’ve written a total of five novels, three stage plays, four children’s books, and a reading journal.
The road has not been easy and it’s a learning experience everyday. The money is not great but I’m not in it for the money. I’m in it because I absolutely love what I do. Every reader who takes the time to read my work is an absolute blessing.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being the president and founder of my own bookclub has been an eye opener. Since 2011, Me Time Book Club has been apart of my life. I’ve worked hard to grow it but I’ve also had lots of term oil along the way, I could have easily given up on my dream to promote literacy within the community but I kept going. I didn’t let anything or anybody stop me. It’s important to understand that never give up on the vision God has given you because he gave it to you for a reason.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
In this industry, it’s important to have some business savvy about yourself. As someone who has worked in corporate America, it has been easy to transition. You have to be able to talk and relate to everyone. You also have to be aware of business aspects and opportunities every interaction can bring.
