Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to K.Mel Beatz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi K.Mel, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
It all started when I used to upload my instrumentals to YouTube just for fun. I didn’t think much of it at first — I was just creating and sharing what I loved. But then I started noticing something: rappers were leaving comments, writing full verses under the videos, and showing real interest in the beats. The feedback was consistently positive, and soon I started getting DMs on Instagram from artists asking if they could buy my beats.
At that point, I didn’t even have a website or any way to sell my instrumentals — I was just creating for the love of it. That’s when Drumma Napper reached out and put me on to BeatStars, a platform that helps producers and artists sell their music. That conversation was a turning point. I decided to invest in myself, set up a BeatStars account, and officially started building my brand as a professional producer. That was the moment I knew this wasn’t just a hobby — it was something I wanted to do for real.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up surrounded by music in the church, playing different instruments from a young age. That early exposure taught me how to feel music, not just play it. In high school, I was a snare drummer in the marching band, and that’s where one of my bandmates introduced me to FL Studio — a digital audio workstation that changed everything for me. I downloaded it as soon as I got home, and I’ve been locked in ever since.
My journey into the industry took a big step forward when an A&R named E came across my beats. He reached out and said he wanted to share them with Timbaland. Not long after, I was on a Zoom call with Timbaland’s manager and other creatives, and the next day, I was officially invited to join BeatClub — a global music platform founded by Timbaland himself. That was a major milestone for me.
Today, I produce high-quality hip-hop and R&B instrumentals that artists can license and use to bring their vision to life. I provide custom beats, production services, and creative collaboration — whether you’re an up-and-coming artist or an established name looking for something fresh. My goal is to help artists stand out with beats that are not just hard-hitting but emotionally connected.
What sets me apart is my discipline and consistency. I challenge myself to make at least 10 beats a day. Some days I fall short, but I never let that stop my momentum. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even prouder of the artists who trust me with their sound.
More than anything, I want people to know that I’m serious about the craft, and I’m here to build — not just sell beats. My brand is about quality, authenticity, and helping artists create music that moves people.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by simply doing what I love — creating music and sharing it consistently. At first, it was just about having fun and putting my beats out there. Over time, I started gaining real engagement from artists and producers who connected with my sound. That’s when I realized the power of content and community.
For anyone just starting out: stay consistent and enjoy the process. Create as much content as you can, and don’t overthink it. Use hashtags strategically — not too many — and stay tapped into current trends, but don’t chase them blindly. Having a vision board helped me stay focused on my goals and the bigger picture. Most importantly, be authentic. If you truly love what you’re doing, the right people — and eventually the opportunities — will find you.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Before my YouTube channel took off and I started earning ad revenue, I was working the night shift at DFW Airport. Even during those long hours, I stayed locked in on my craft — making beats on my lunch breaks, then going home to upload them to YouTube. I kept up that routine for about a month, grinding through the fatigue and staying focused on the bigger picture.
One morning, after a shift, I started getting nonstop notifications — artists were flooding my comments saying how fire the beats were. I went home, got some rest, and when I woke up, my channel had blown up overnight. Thousands of views, comments, and new supporters. That moment reminded me why consistency matters and that real growth doesn’t happen overnight — it happens when you keep showing up, even when no one’s watching.
