Leaving a secure, full-time job as a merchant mariner to pursue my passion as a full-time content creator was a defining moment in my life. The decision to take this risk was not made lightly, but it was fueled by a deep-seated desire to follow my heart and create content that truly resonated with others.

The decision to leave behind the familiarity and security of my maritime career was not an easy one, but it was made easier by the unwavering support and encouragement of my mother. Her belief in my talent and her relentless push for me to pursue my dreams gave me the courage to take that leap. Her words became a constant source of inspiration, reminding me that life is too short to not pursue what sets your soul on fire.

Embracing this risk has allowed me to fully immerse myself in a world where creativity knows no bounds. It has given me the freedom to express myself in ways I never thought possible and connect with a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion.

My love for travel was ignited by my mother’s early adventures with me and my brother, and as a single mom, I understand the importance of exposing children to the wonders of the world. Traveling can be incredibly beneficial for children, allowing them to immerse themselves in different cultures and create lasting memories. Through my brand, I am committed to demystifying the belief that travel is inherently expensive and empowering others to embark on enriching adventures without breaking the bank.

As a professional writer, I am deeply passionate about shedding light on the often misunderstood journey of creatives. The creative process is a complex and multifaceted endeavor that extends far beyond the finished product. From the initial spark of inspiration to meticulous planning and execution, creatives pour their hearts and souls into their work, facing a myriad of challenges along the way.

Creating content is more than just taking pictures or recording a video on a camera or phone and writing captions. It involves creative concepts, creating mood boards, planning out how you want your content to be shot, filming the content, editing, writing captions, the list goes on. Each step requires careful consideration and attention to detail.

Another aspect that non-creatives may struggle to grasp is the pervasive nature of imposter syndrome. As a creative, I have personally experienced the weight of self-doubt and the need to disconnect in order to refocus and realign with my creative vision. The emotional highs and lows of creative expression, from moments of intense inspiration to periods of uncertainty, form a unique journey that can be difficult for non-creatives to fully comprehend.

I believe that by fostering a deeper understanding of the creative process, we can bridge the gap between creatives and non-creatives.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Building an audience on social media is a journey that requires dedication, perseverance, and a clear understanding of your audience. For me, the key to success has been consistency, consistency, and more consistency. It’s important to understand that growing a social media presence is not an overnight achievement.

I started by consistently creating and sharing high-quality content that resonated with my audience. Whether it was educational, entertaining, or inspiring, I always made sure that my content added value to the lives of my followers. This approach helped me build a loyal and engaged community over time.

In addition to consistency, it’s crucial to understand your audience and create content that speaks to their interests and needs. Engaging with your followers, responding to their comments, and considering their feedback can significantly contribute to building a strong and loyal community.

Furthermore, leveraging the power of different social media platforms and understanding their unique features can also help in reaching a wider audience. Each platform has its own best practices, so it’s important to tailor your content accordingly.
