We were lucky to catch up with K G$ recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, K thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started my music career in the early months of 2020. I was just finishing up high school and was very interested in music production and more importantly the hip hop side of music production. I already had a pretty firm grasp on the guitar, and the little music theory I had to go with it so I just kinda took that and ran with it. I started “producing” beats and after a while, I started writing down lyrics and kind of visualizing what I could be as an artist, because I didn’t want to just produce the beats I wanted to produce an Artist. To answer that question though, yes I wish I had started sooner, but if I play my cards right I still have a lot of time to do what I invision too.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I broke my way into the music industry very subtly. I started dropping music on Spotify in the late months of 2021 and gained a very small following of about 100-200 monthly listener’s. It has been extremely hard to be recognized in this day and age, and through the help of many curating websites I have been able to attract the small audience that I have. My vision is all based off my music, my end goal is to create my own sub genre of rap, and create a family based around that genre!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
YES YES YES. Any struggling artist on SoundCloud should take a look at: www.repostexchange.com It’s a great resource to grow your fan base and it’s FREE.
Another great one for SoundCloud or Spotify artists is: www. submithub.com they let you submit to blogs, Spotify curators, and YouTubers again COMPLETELY FREE
and last but NOT least is: www.dailyplaylists.com
This one lets you submit directly to playlists for again FREE!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
It has to be my love to create. I always have had a passion to if not even create something, at least make a difference in the world. My goal and mission is to share love through music with the world, even though we go through hard things in life, we must remember to love each other more than anything!
