We recently connected with JYA and have shared our conversation below.
Hi JYA, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is really to make music that makes the listener feel good. I want to spread love with my art. Also, I want to be a reminder to others that it is okay to be different, to do things your own way. It’s so important to do what you love. This is ultimate my goal.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started creating music when I pretty young, I don’t quite remember what age exactly. It wasn’t until my freshman year of high school that I began to record my music. I was on and off with pursuing music because I was still very young and was still growing and figuring out what I really wanted in life. Finally, in 2020 I realized that music is what I am passionate about, creating in general is what I am passionate about. From then on, I’ve been creating consistently and working towards my goals.
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I do what I want. I make the kind of music that I like and what sounds good to me, with hopes that others like it too. This is my passion and I make music because I enjoy the process. It really does come from my heart.
I am proud of every piece of work I create. Imagine a kid who finishes an art project or a simple drawing (what have you) and can’t wait to get home to show their parents what they made; this is how I can best describe how I feel after I create, I can’t wait to share it with people!
The main thing I want listeners to know is that it’s okay to be unique. Set yourself apart from the crowd. Know that you won’t be for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice
I think NFTs are next up. It’s a great way to give fans exclusive content and collectibles. In my opinion, it has so much potential to bring you closer to your audience. Especially for independent artists, it gives the opportunity for the audience to invest in what they believe has potential to become bigger. There’s so much more to NFTs but I definitely think it’s growth will be profound. It may take sometime, but the time will come. As an artist, I think it’s important learn and take advantage of what can be done with NFTs while it’s still pretty early.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is being told how my music affects people. Hearing that my music has a positive affect on the listener is an indescribable feeling. Literally touches my heart.
