We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Juwan Clarke a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Juwan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
As a graphic designer, I’ve always loved creating art as a young child. With the growing technology, I’ve enhanced my skills with creating digital art as a student at Cass Technical High School in 2011 under the Graphic Arts curriculum. While in college at Michigan State University, I learned more in-depth details about photoshop on my own to be able to create flyers and logos for people that knew me. I was gifted with my first camera in 2015 and began a passion for photography, photo editing, and expanded into editing short videos in Adobe Premiere for class assignments within my college.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Juwan Clarke, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. began my journey as a Graphic Designer under the Graphic Arts Curriculum in high school and found a love for being able to alter images digitally to market business ventures, custom artwork and allowing what I love to do to become a second source of income.
Juwan Clarke Productions was officially branded as a Digital Arts Service platform in 2019 that offers multiple services such as Flyers, Logos, Websites, T-Shirts, Obituaries, Podcasting and much more for local businesses.
With my business, my motto and slogan has always been to bring your vision to a fulfilling visual experience with the growth of your business. Whatever Idea a client has, I aim to fulfill the idea into a finalized plan that stands out for marketing, pleasure and much more!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
With the growth of socail media, it has been quite the challenge over the years to grasp the attention of my target audience. I had experience of running social media accounts throughout my fraternity and business as a radio personality on Lansing’s Hip Hop and R&B radio station 96.5.
A major key I’ve learned is to remain consistent no matter what. One like or one view can be your million dollar client. Many people will be discouraged by views on post or videos through their social media platforms and simply stop posting. The key is to study your target audience, be on top of the trends and execute!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative and artist is the end product. I’ve encoutered many elaborate ideas that clients have given me that I felt were challenging but could be done. I’ve always looked at unfamiliar task that are brought upon me as a learning opportunity to enhance my skills and grow as a creative. The most challenging task comes with unlearning old habits and being comfortable being uncomfortable for the growth of your brand.
