We recently connected with Juston White and have shared our conversation below.
Juston, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
The internet. Whenever I needed help in any aspect I would just always look it up. It was honestly the speediest way to figure things out in just about anything. I would always ask my friends for help as far as the camera because they were more experienced, but they kind of wanted me to get it out of the mud. I just had to learn to be patient and not let the irritation of starting over get to me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I can only really label myself as a creative. I produce and do photography/videography. I’ve been producing since high school and picked the camera up after my freshman year of college. There was no clear way on how I got into these things, my creative side just kind of flowed more and more and led me to want to create.
I feel like now, the creative lane is definitely oversaturated. There are lots of ideas being copied. With that being said, I kind of take pride in the fact that I’m 100% authentic and that all my ideas are straight from the dome.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The life it gives you. Life as a creative is so fun! There’s always something to shoot, somebody to work with, a beat to make, everyday is just something new. When I think of being a creative, I kind of think about how colorful life feels when I’m working on a project or something.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, I want to make it to a point where I’m living off creativity. A point were I’m rich off creativity. A point where I can tell my parents they don’t have to work anymore just from creativity. I feel like the ability to make art is such a God given gift, and I want to use it to its absolute advantage.
