Justine, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

If I could go back in time, I would have started my business exactly when I did. At the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life or my career. My boss at the time, tossed me into a Graphic Design position where I had to teach myself everything! I took the time to learn everything I could and in no time, my work was being noticed by entrepreneurs and businesses all around San Diego. Within 2 years, I was able to quit my job and start my own Graphic Design business. I think if I would’ve started any earlier or later, I wouldn’t be who I am today nor would I have the success I have today.

My name is Justine Vargo and I am the owner and designer of Vargo Designs. We are a one-stop shop for businesses & entrepreneurs who are looking for designs & marketing materials for their brands. We specialize in Logo Design, Website Design & Graphic Design. Over the 6 years in business, we have worked with all kinds of niches such as restaurants, makeup artists, hair stylists, med-spas, nightclubs, real estate agents, clothing stores, etc.

Our business creates custom & eye-catching designs that will make our clients stand out amongst their competitors. Nothing is template-based, and everything is curated from scratch with our client’s vision & desired aesthetics in mind. We are efficient and diligent in delivering our work in a timely manner & creating lasting relationships with our clients.

I am so proud of how far this business has come! What started out in a small office in a nightclub’s attic with no potential, has now grown into a successful design business with over 200+ clients!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Social media is an extremely powerful tool for businesses! From the beginning, Vargo Designs has utilized Instagram and Facebook to capture an audience & work with clients. Our business has found success in social media by being CONSISTENT. We are constantly posting, interacting with other profiles, following & engaging with businesses, and keeping ourselves relevant.

Social media is all about engaging & keeping up with trends, so we have made sure to do just that! Acclimating to changes in social media & keeping up with any new trends or viral events has helped us tremendously to keep up with social media & stay relevant.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I first started working for myself, I went into a partnership with a friend of mine. We both worked extremely hard and were able to build a very successful brand that people trusted & chose to work with for their design & social media needs. After a few years, she decided to take her talents elsewhere & I was forced to rebrand and create something new for myself. At the time, I was extremely overwhelmed and nervous about starting over and relying on myself alone to be successful. But sure enough, I was able to create Vargo Designs which has given me the ability to work on my own terms and work with the businesses I choose. We are now a successful design business & have worked with top companies such as Farmers Insurance, Douglas Elliman, FLUXX Nightclub, Sugar Factory, Wild n’ Out, Keller Williams, People Magazine and more!
