We recently connected with Justin Wise and have shared our conversation below.
Justin , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
First it takes setting goals. And taking on those goals one by one. Next it takes drive and determination. When things are difficult that’s when it will push you to do more than you knew you could. As you continue to push those boundaries and grow you will reach your goals which is right where success lies.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in a family that was big into cars. Spending the weekends at car shows, drag racing, or restoring antique vehicles was a common occurrence.
During high school, I always had a fascination with starting my own business. I started cutting grass and landscaping for people in my neighborhood and that was the first kickstart to owning my own business.
When I graduated highschool I knew that the automotive industry was one that I wanted to get into, I attended Southwest Tennesse Community College joining their General Motors Automotive Program which landed me a job with General Motors. After graduating college, I worked for General Motors as a service technician for the following 10 years.
During that time, I grew an enjoyment with the detailing side of the automotive industry. Making vehicles look new, and making paint shine like never before. That combined with the thoughts of owning my own business set me on my journey to start Wise Guy’s Detailing.
On the weekends, I started taking a few jobs to get accustomed to the industry, build a brand, and further my skill.
In November of 2015, I attended my first detail training event. After which I returned and took Wise Guy’s Detailing full time. Over the past 5 years, I have continued to grow the business into what it is today.
Training in states around the country like California, Florida, and Georgia with some of the largest and well-known businesses in the industry. We now service many of Memphis’s high-end sports and classic cars. But also run services that take care of boats, daily drivers, ATVs, and more.
In September of 2021 we released our first 5 detail products. Allowing customers to use the same quality products for their vehicles that we use everyday here in our shop!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I would say communication and trust was what really gave the business its reputation. Listening to the customers wants and needs and doing our best to fulfill those things. Many of our customers come in for consultations with their vehicles before ever having them serviced. This allows us to work one on one with our customers so they feel comfortable when they leave their vehicles with us.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth has been a huge source of our customers which we are always happy to hear. But we also get a large amount from social media. In the detail industry we get a lot of vehicles that are owned by auto enthusiasts. Those same people typically enjoy posting their vehicles online and communicating with other like minded people. So we have been able to Meet many of our clients from those same channels as well!
