Justin , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I have to give all credits to my niece and nephew. They originally gave me my DJ name, DJ J- Tempo. We were all sitting in my bedroom back home in Mobile, Al. I told them I was thinking of taking this DJ thing seriously and they asked what would my name be? I told them how about you guys come up with it for me. They wanted to incorporated my initials, JT. My niece said what about DJ Tempo and my nephew said add the J in front and that was that! J-Tempo was born! So, from there I decided to name the company Tempo Entertainment.
Justin , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, My name is Justin Trotter AKA DJ J-Tempo. I was pretty much always into music. I appreciated the way music can change your moods. You could literally be upset, but if you hear that right tune its like it all goes away. I started playing the saxophone, drums, and bass guitar as a young kid in the band and at church. Once I got into college, I started to play around with DJ software and get an understanding of the craft of djing. I was always fascinated on how a dj could control a crowds feeling by a certain type of music. Djs are really like an orchestra director.
Currently, I have the business Tempo Entertainment and we provide a vast amount of services. We provide high quality Djing services for wedding, private events, etc, Lighting for special events, Special add-ons such as gobo lighting and cold sparkles for special events, and quality equipment to always provide the best sound for your event.
The thing that sets us apart from the rest, is our mission to always provide our clients with the best service and a great time no matter what! We take pride in our preparation for an event as well. One way we do this is providing our clients with a questionnaire to what genre of music they request and any additional information needed to make their event a special one!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele would be connecting with my clients and building good relationships. Networking is key! Honestly, I am booked more through word of mouth and referrals than social media itself. I think that by providing quality service and networking with clients allows them to spread the word to others and more business comes from that. We also started offering a referral payment to people who refer us, so that helps.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My audience on social media was built from events I have done in the past. Posting re-cap videos have worked really well for me. Also, posting videos of mixing sets has been working too. I am still continuing to grow my audience on all social media platforms. My advice would be to post high quality videos and reflect what feels good to you. Your attraction comes from what you post.
