We recently connected with Justin Tipton and have shared our conversation below.
Justin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
We recently completed our first album as a band. I have an album out that I did with some very talented studio musicians, but this album we just finished mastering is the most meaningful to me because I felt like it’s a better representation of who I want to be as an artist.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re a rock n’ roll band from Dallas, TX and I think it’s as simple as that. A lot of folks try to pinpoint who we are, who we sound like, etc. and I get that but at the end of the day it’s rock n’ roll. We travel as far and as wide as we can and spread rock n’ roll cheer.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
It’s simple really: seek out live music. Seek out original artists. No offense to tribute bands or cover bands, I understand they all have their place in this world, but if people didn’t support original artists in the first place there would be no one to pay tribute to.
And it’s tough making it as an original artist. It takes all the support in the world to make that dream come true on any level.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to do what I love, take care of my kids, and pay my bills…that’s all I really care about. As long as I’m able to do those 3 things then I’m happy.
