Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Quandt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Justin , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Mission = Leading children to be successful in life through dance
This mission sticks closely, as our team and I have learned the many valuable lessons of life through dance. The benefits and life lessons are incredible. Some benefits include physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and academic.
The life lessons range from learning how to follow instruction, correct body placement, understanding how to work with others, being leaders in and out of the classroom, building social skills, and so much more.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born into the dance world. You could say it was in my blood. My mother owned a dance studio (that my sister Heather now owns) that is currently on its 54th year. My other sister Heidi is currently celebrating her 20th year as a studio owner and I am on year 6 as a studio owner.
I grew up dancing and know what a major impact it had on my life in so many great ways. I traveled the world and danced professionally as well from from many different places such as Paris, Sydney, New Zealand, Mexico and of course the USA!
This passion of mine in dance is something I have always wanted to be able to give back to young students one day.
We provide dance lessons at Fusion Dance Solana Beach for students ages 2-18 years old. Whether you want to come in to learn the basics, or you are wanting a professional career in dance. We cater to it all!
We always say that dance lessons teach life lessons!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest pivot of our lives was during covid of course. This was a major event for everyone and especially for business owners. We had a goal of giving children some normalcy and turned our business to an online business in less 48 hours.
We collaborated with studio owners from around the world to build each other up and motivate each other. Keeping our dance studio schedule exactly the same and staying connected with our families and students during covid was a life saver!
How’d you meet your business partner?
Yes! The co-owner of Fusion Dance Solana Beach is my husband Anthony Andrieux. We opened this together and has been our absolute favorite thing we have ever done.
I have had an extensive career in dance which fueled this project. Anthony had worked in the restaurant industry in Paris and San Diego. His skills quickly applied to Fusion Dance which worked out very well!
