Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Petty. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Justin , appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Moving from the Midwest (Ohio) to Atlanta Georgia (2007) and then later to Los Angeles (2021) which made way for my current location in Las Vegas Nevada (2022). I’m the owner of Intangible Entertainment LLC an Atlanta based record label I started it while living in a Gwinnett county Georgia suburb (Lawrenceville). I ended up getting some major record label contacts at UMG etc in los Angeles California. I made some money off of doge coin cryptocurrency on the international money market. I was working at a company in Suwanee Georgia called Latham pool products on 2nd shift (I hated it) when I started buying stock and crypto currency. My plan was to take the money I was hoping to make at that time and use it to move to Los Angeles. Well one day like 2 years after I started my crypto currency fluctuated and gained BIG I transferred the funds to my account and booked a ticket to Los Angeles and never looked back. I started dating this woman I met online while in Atlanta who was already living in Los Angeles. Once I got to LAX I called her we linked up and always stayed together yes even to this day but it was risky all I took was my money my clothes and my firearms. I never been married or had kids my family was always against me they never wanted to see me have anything honestly. I was born in Lima Ohio in the early 80s and grew up in Dayton Ohio with a single mother and 1 younger brother. I wasn’t born with money but I was determined to go and get me some by any means. My faith in God and myself was all I needed I felt, my gifts made a way for me over the year’s. I had already won film writing contest in Los Angeles as well as Toronto Canada and my heart said just go you can win. I write and record music film TV and playwrights. I just recently got a talent agent here in Las Vegas that cast for major films TV commercials and TV shows. Dawn Sullivan has worked with some of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood Leonardo DiCaprio Julia stiles etc she also works as a photographer for major fashion lines like Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Justin , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The honest truth is my passion came behind being a music film and TV lover as a kid. I dropped out of high school as a 17 year old and actually needed to be successful it was a sink or swim situation for me. There isn’t much going on in Ohio but I was determined to make it. Intangible Entertainment LLC was my first dream I started a record label first because of all the rap and r&b songs I’d write and record in my private time. I started with $500 dollars and a dream. I seen a legal zoom commercial one day about how you could start a business online so I checked it out. I found a site called active filings who did the exact same thing for slightly cheaper and paid to put my business together. I bought books to educate myself on how to run and structure a record company. I came up with the money from a tax refund I received one year. Instead of buying material stuff I promised myself I’d start a business. I wanted to create something that would outlive myself. Something that could go on for generations after myself. Once I moved west I decided to get into synch licensing meaning through my music pro BMI (NYC) I could actually make revenue for my company by placing my tracks in music libraries for placement in film and TV shows as well as online platforms like Spotify etc for sale under my stage name Mr. Intangible da don (Google me) @mr.intangibledadon (Instagram). I also design men and women’s fashion and formal wear from a new business venture of my “The Justin Lamar Collection” which will be available online soon.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Procrastinating kills dream’s the truth is I should have left Atlanta Georgia sooner than I did I thought about moving to long before I actually made a move. My advice to anyone with a dream is to do it while you’re scared of your dream doesn’t scare you a little bit then it’s not big enough. Everything worked out in the end me moving to big L.A. etc take risk without risk you can’t prosper. It’s a reason you have a vision for your life you only live once close your eyes and just jump your guardian angels will be there to catch you. The other thing is to never make a plan B because it’s doubt if you put that in the universe you’ll need it be sure about what you want and never change your mind about it. I’ve been homeless sleeping in my car taking showers at the gym etc before some things came together. The fight for your destiny will not be easy only the strong survive. Adversity doesn’t discriminate against age race or background of you want to make it you’ll pay in pain.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started investing in stocks and crypto currency that fluctuated and ended up giving me the money that I needed to get started. I also have a background in manufacturing so I was able to pay bills and save for a rainy day and my dream that way also.
