We recently connected with Justin P. Slaughter and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Justin P. , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve took advance acting class at “Next Level Acting Studio”; taught by Deke Anderson. On my down time I would read and also learn the “Stanislavski Technique” or what most people know it as “Method Acting”. It helps me create legitimate emotions and actions in the character I’m portraying. It covers “Who am I? Where am I? What time is it? What do I want? Why do I want it? How will I get it? What do I need to overcome?” I tend to also create a “Character Playlist”, a list of songs I feel my character would listen to which would help me further create the character. It gets deeper when it comes to preparation. However, not everyone likes this kind of technique when it comes to acting but acting is art which is also subjective and it works for me.
Justin P. , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well I’m Justin P. Slaughter and I am an American actor and Recording artist known for the 2019 Crime Drama “90 Feet From Home”, the 2021 Sci-Fi Thriller “Meteor” and the 2022 Sci-Fi Adventure Film “Egress” which is also going straight to series. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer and owner of “JSlaughterFITNESS”. Not only that but also a Fitness Model, Prep Coach for Bodybuilding Athletes. I am as well a Voiceover Actor and Song Writer; with the debut single entitled “Oh (Move Ya Body)” Produced by Vinny D available everywhere in the digital stores; iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc. I’m very proud of the Sci-Fi Adventure Film “Egress” because it’s my first Lead Role and first film that everyone can see what I can do as an Actor; my range.
What I believe sets me apart from others is pretty much where I’m from. It’s definitely not saturated with other Actors being that it’s 100% a blue collar town and acting seems more of a fairytale than a job to most where I’m from. Now that I’ve been getting more established in the industry, it’s starting to shed more light to my city just how possible it truly is.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve revamped my social media about 4-5 times over the years of having it. It went from just being a personal page and posting good looking foods to being a music page to promote my music, then a fitness account to promote myself as a trainer and coach. Revamping my social media account to finally concluded it to be my all around Actor page. Every aspected style of my social media I’ve network with others to increase my following
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to make it so far that it inspires people to truly believe in themselves and know just how capable they are. Inspire them to really understand that the body will only do what your mind allows; to see them start following their dreams. If I can do it then I’m extremely confident most really could too.
