Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Lipscomb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. If you’re open to it, can you talk to us about the best (or worst) investment you’ve made. What’s the backstory and the relevant context behind why you made the investment
Investing into other places before investing into myself. Not taking the time to learn the things I was paying others for, ended up hurting more than helping. It takes knowledge to be a good boss, with knowledge comes the time you’ve put in to get where you needed to be.

Justin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ever since I was a child, I loved music. My grandfather played in a church, trumpets, the keyboard, my father played drums. I always admired it. As I got older, I decided to take the chance and become vocal like my idols. I was always the kid who stood up to the bullies, whether it’s school bullying or racial. I’ve never been scared, but I also didn’t have the proper guidance. So I make music, and clothes that engrave having somebody on your side that’ll guide you the right way. A big brother, one that I never had.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started rapping, and in my first bit of work it was unguided, and it had a lot of cursing. I couldn’t show my child, and it really affected me. I want to influence her the best way I can, so I shifted to non explicit music.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I’m actually still starting my business. We’re not in the best economy, so I work to supply my business. I’m a mechanic, so sometimes it gets hard. It just takes time and dedication. What I can say is, don’t get loans unless you can double your loan in the first couple of months. Don’t take major risks unless you are 100% certain it’ll work out, and even if it doesn’t. Keep going. Credit is everything in the business world.
