Justin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?

Kish Sports Media has been something that came after I have decided to work as a freelance sports journalist. For almost ten years if not more I have been working for other websites including Fansided and even having successful sports casts on YouTube (Pro Football Exclusive, MLB Baseball Blogs, and The Real Sports Talk).

Justin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Justin David Kish and I am a independent sports journalist and creator of my own network called Kish Sports Media.

Dating all the way back to 2010, I began my journey as a sports writer where I started off creating small blog posts on a nobody website but the passion of writing would quickly turn into a passion of talking which led to the creation of my YouTube account MLB Baseball Blogs primarily talking MLB and MILB. Later, I would join up with another network and re-brand as The Real Sports Talk in which a collaboration of other YouTubers got together and made the network reach over 1,000+ subscribers in a short period of time. Later, Pro Football Exclusive would be launched in 2011 as a side project in which we talked college and professional ball.

After high school, I continued my sports writing in which I would work for Fansided websites Cage Pages and Heat Waved before departing from the network and creating what would now become Kish Sports Media Network today. Today, the network has over 8,000+ followers on Twitter and we recently launched a new Facebook page, and now we are preparing for a weekly podcast on Spotify.

The discipline of being an independent sports journalist of a upcoming network is bound to be hard but it is awesome if you have a passion for to do it. For me, I put in very late nights in order to make the network successful which is making posts, graphics, etc. But the just rewards is that you are creating a resume for yourself which you could use as writing examples for other networks looking for help. Also, with my network you are given chances to represent the brand and speak with college and professional athletes.

Kish Sports Media offers the service of providing extensive sports content to sports fans who are looking for their fix for sports news. Kish Sports Media covers nearly 15+ sports leagues and promotions globally including fight/pro wrestling promotions.

What sets Kish Sports Media apart from others is the amount of content that is provided in this one network. The network has so much content that is published each and everyday on the platform of Instagram (@JustinDavidKish).

What am I most proud of? I am most proud of the fact that this passion in me to provide the best coverage in sports is very much alive and in my heart. THIS IS MY PASSION MY LOVE! Talking sports and having such a deep knowledge in not just American based sports but international sports is great as you can talk to others in other countries about their sports which could bring their interest in my network. Just so many things I am grateful for when it comes to my network.

What I want fans to know about Kish Sports Media is that we are always looking to add people who are looking for a platform to write who don’t know where to begin. I would love to help the younger generation who have the passion and drive in sports media to help them grow and reach their full potential which will get them to the next level and land professional jobs at major networks or newspapers. How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Honestly, what helped me is just doing research on the story. You may not be the one breaking the story but you want to be the one who has the facts and what is actually going on in the situation at hand. Having all the right information is what gives you cred especially in a sports media business where “rumors” are everywhere.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy would have to be two, communication and consistency. You always want to stay consistent with your content because no one wants to read about stuff that happened two-three days ago. Communication is always key within your peers in a sports network and with the fans. Fan interaction is always a must as the fans is what brings in your views and you want to treat them as you would do everyone with respect even if you disagree with their opinions on topics in sports.
