We were lucky to catch up with Justin Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Justin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I don’t necessarily wish but, I also have that “what if” scenario hit me every now and then. From simple camera techniques to me editing, to think how everything is of second nature for me, I can only imagine the phenom I would’ve created within myself earlier on. Everything happens at the right time though, the process was there but, I had to grow in other places in my life. To sum it up, everything’s working at the time that it should, as long as I remain focused.
Justin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a graphic designer and filmmaker, all around creative, if I didn’t want to put a cap on the limitations. But, I am the owner of The Campaign Store & Campaign Studios, where we design and print up of clothing and make short films, music videos, and commercials. I try to be the creative eye for those who probably don’t know how to translate in such form, try to give an easy approach to creativity. I’m pleased with the growth within this year alone, a few things I put on my list of goals I need to achieve around my age I did. A few things that hasn’t been released you can definitely see the growth I keep the brand motto simple “bringing an old school feel with a new school look” I try to stick to that, by making products that represent the time and stands the test of time.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yeah, all of them, realistically. I would’ve definitely saved up my lunch money and allocated my dollars towards all of this stuff from cameras to printers to heat presses. Again, everything happens right on time, I definitely had to grow in other areas.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Definitely the finished product, I live to see the finished product, especially a film that I’m working on or even when I’m working as a production assistant on a bigger budget project, from the pen to field. To see the time progress, the entire build and destroy, destroy and build aspect, it’s lovely.
