We recently connected with Justin Hill and have shared our conversation below.
Justin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Ultimately, I want to be known as the best lawyer to step foot in a courtroom. When I’m no longer on this earth, I want “when it gets real, call JHill” to live on forever.
Justin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the founder and managing partner of The JHill Firm, LLC, a criminal defense and personal injury law firm based in Midtown Atlanta. We handle all types of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors (such as DUI and simple assault) to serious felonies (such as drug trafficking, RICO and murder). We also handle personal injury cases such as car and trucking accidents, slip and fall, and premises liability. What sets us apart is that we provide creative and aggressive representation for our clients. We review each case diligently to provide personalized representation for each client. We believe there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to legal representation. We are not a law firm that encourages our clients to settle or take a plea when it is not in their best interest. If we see a case that has strong merits, we have no problem taking it to trial. Because of this we have gotten great results for our clients.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One of my major marketing strategies that has worked for me is music. Early in my career, I branded myself with the phrase “when it gets real, call JHill.” This slogan stuck with a lot of people, and I eventually made a music video where the chorus was “when it gets real, call JHill” and posted it to social media. The video pretty much drilled it into people’s heads. It also got my phone ringing. From there, I continued making music. I aways incorporate some type of legal subject matter in the music, whether it’s through legal jargon or mentioning different cases that I’ve gotten dismissed. Some people were skeptical about it at first, but it has been a catchy and unique way to get my message across.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Fighting for my clients and bringing them good results. When you fight for your clients against opposing counsel (whether it be prosecutors or insurance companies), you will get the reputation of being a lawyer who will fight. Eventually, you will come across that same prosecutor or that same insurance adjuster (or maybe even they will spread the word around the office) and this reputation will be invaluable moving forward. Then, you bring your clients good results and they will spread the word about you to their friends and family. Essentially, they will do the marketing for you.
