We were lucky to catch up with Justin Cotton and Devon Neisen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Justin and Devon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Our most meaningful projects have been our inclusion of our community. Having Steven from We Rock the Spectrum gym reach out to us to hang out and discuss fatherhood was a really encouraging experience. Devon was able to meet up with friends who do the Rock Block radio show. We’ve starting to get interest from members of our community with wanting to be a part of our podcast. One of our main goals of our podcast is to create a community for dads. Having other fathers wanting to be a part of this journey is really energizing and encouraging.

Justin and Devon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Justin and Devon are neighbors. They found out their wives were pregnant and due within a month of each other. Devon was having his third kid and Justin was having his first.
When they’d meet up, Justin would ask Devon questions about being a dad and what the next year would be like. Justin would end every conversation with “Man this should be a podcast. I’d listen to that.” And Devon would say, “Well, I did study music production.”
After a couple of months of joking about doing it, they decided to give it a go. They started recording episodes in November of 2021 and published their first episode in January of 2022.
We’ve been able to keep this going for a year and are excited to see what more community can be built from this adventure.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our creative mission is to create a community and give dads an opportunity to tell their story. Our hope is that by getting dads to talk about their lives and decision making process community will happen. Fathers give a lot to their families, but don’t always take the time to discuss it or look for community. We hope to inspire that community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We’ve been able to build our social media audience mostly by word of mouth with friends and family. Our next endeavor is to start to partner with local business owners and highlight their stories as fathers.
