Just , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you’ve thought about whether to sign with an agent or manager?

I didn’t not sign to agent, simply because I haven’t found and agent who would work for me. What I mean by that is my luck with people helping support my career hasn’t been the best. I have been burned by the wrong people so it’s hard to trust anyone agent can help me get to the next level. I will say this I’m open if they come along the way, and we Benicia each other. I officially signed myself to my own label and have my team helping build my music brand with me. I believe it’s going to be and my handpicked pick team who take this brand to the next level.

Just , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and I currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been singing since I was a kid. I come from two musically families. My mom side are singers, and my dad side are rappers. As you can see I get it honest, and I love every minute of it. I am the oldest of three children. I grew up in a single parent household. Singing and writing, has always been my voice. I have been an independent artist for 8 years officially. In these years I have learned a lot.

There have been a lot of ups and downs. I have had bogus management, and management offers. I have received recording contract opportunities that was right for everyone in the room, but me. Even though those moments happened, beauty came out of it. With gods help, even though I didn’t sign to any of those record labels, I still was able to keep going.

Since then I have crossed over, into international streams with my music. I have started my own business Just Semaj Productions LLC. We are a company that specializes in music and film production, brand management. We even specialize in creative direction for brands. We’re even a small independent record label. This brand is multifaceted, even in it’s beginning stages. One day we’ll all look and Just Semaj Productions LLC, will be everywhere. I say all that to say this, trial and tribulations are going to happen. Especially when you’re destined for greatness, you owe it to yourself to keep on going. I have learned my reasoning for just keep going is, it gets greater, later. I’m living proof, it will get greater. Me holding on my to my faith, and beliefs has gotten me to this point.

When I think back over the eight year span of my career. The first word that comes to mind is, the word proud. I’m most proud of everything I’ve been through to get to where I am today. Out of not so good management, sexual passes made at my by so called executives, being exposed online in away, I never wanted to be, and the list goes on. I stand in front of the world as Just Semaj, The Gentleman Of R&B/Soul. Anything worth having, is going to come with a fight, and I’m ready to fight some more. When I tell you the me, I am today, is better because I went through those things. I love who I have become, the level of growth and maturity, that I’ve been so blessed to have. There were times, I would be trying to figure out how I’m going to support my gifts financially. There were times I would cry myself to sleep at night not feeling good enough, because I didn’t have support in the ways I needed. There were also times where I gave up, and was done. I kept hearing in the back of my just kept going. I allowed myself to feel everything that I was going through, because I used those very feelings for motivation.

No matter what you face, just keep going. You may see others who are where you desire, and think to yourself I got what it takes. Just keep going, you may feel looked over at times, just keep going. I used to feel like, I was so behind. I had to look in the mirror and ask myself, what are you really behind. I couldn’t answer that question. I stood there as I brushed my teeth, I’ll never for get this pivotal moment. I heard a small voice in my head say, everyone has their time and you’ll know when yours is here. The most humbling experience to me, because the voice was so sweet and innocent and soft. So again never give up, the world is waiting on you.

In not giving up, I can now say I have a new project coming soon titled “Vibes You keep”. I have a single from the project titled, Dance The night Away, that will be out this October. For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding thing about being an artist or a creative, is just that. I get to tell my story in a way that many people across the world will understand. I get to be as creative as my mind will let me be without limits. It’s gives a level of appreciation, expression, and joy, I don’t think I’ll ever feel, if I wasn’t an artist.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I have strictly built built my social media platform off being me. I learned a while back, that I am enough. I took that same attitude to social media and that’s what my supporters gravitate towards, and know me for.
