We were lucky to catch up with Jurate Luckaite recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jurate thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My road to entrepreneurship was quite unexpected. I came to the United States when I was 19 years old with $200 in my pocket that disappeared like a cloud in the sky within a few days. I was left with nothing but big dreams, courage, and no fear. Five years later I graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver with International Business Degree and celebrated my American dream. I realized that anything is possible only if you believe it and work hard to achieve it.
While I was studying, I was also working two jobs. I was walking every day to work (I worked at the Warwick hotel in sales and marketing) looking at the skyscrapers of Denver downtown, hoping that one day I can take an elevator to the highest floor wearing a beautiful women’s suite. As soon as I graduated, I was hired as a Project Manager by the International Marketing Company that was located on the top floor of the highest building downtown and I was working at the office overlooking the mile-high city. My dreams once again came true.
However, after working in this company for a while I felt that something was missing within. I was proud to be a Project Manager and work with the largest international companies. I was proud to be taking an elevator to the highest floor. I was proud to be working with 27 languages. I was proud to be wearing beautiful womans’ suites every day, but I wasn’t truly happy. It was a job but not a passion. It was a status, but not the fulfillment. I was fulfilling someone else’s dream but not living mine. So, I decided to seek the answers and search for my purpose. I left everything behind, packed one suitcase, and moved to Hawaii.
While living on a crystalline island, I had a breakthrough in my awareness and my consciousness. I was seeking the answers and the answers came to me. The truth is whatever you are seeking is also seeking you. I realized that I am destined for something more fulfilling, creative, and extraordinary, but at the time I did not know what exactly that was.
All I knew, was I wanted to do something that I am passionate about and that adds
value to the World. This was the first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally and become an entrepreneur.
Jurate, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Even though I have economics and international business degrees, I am a creative soul. I have always had an eye for fashion and was called a “fashionista” all the time, even by Grant Cardone. Living in Hawaii, I felt an inspiration to create something unique that involves fashion. When my sister Violeta created the most extraordinary gift for my 30th birthday, I immediately had an idea. The gift included a hand-painted handbag, a hand-painted silk shawl, and hand-painted boots. Seeing the reactions from people who were genuinely amazed and wanted to own the artwork I was wearing; I knew it could be the beginning of something great.
Since I remember, my sister Violeta was always painted. She would make me sit in one position
for three hours and paint my eyes and my face. It was torture for me to sit still for that long
especially because I was a little girl, but she always made me pose so she could capture the true
essence of my soul. Painting eyes was her passion and now I understand why… I was helping to
master her talent and her unique gift.
I always had a desire to be in fashion and express myself transforming women, making them feel and look amazing. I was a natural fashion designer and stylist since I was born, just without the certificates. I always thought that a woman can become a masterpiece if she is styled right. She is like a piece of silk where no mistakes can be made, and everything must flow in harmony. The clothing a woman is wearing and her style must be an addition to her beauty and should bring out the best of her. There is no ONE style that fits all because each woman is unique. So, I
decided to dive into fashion full force and studied fashion styling and design while my sister
Violeta was mastering her intricate skills in painting on live medium until she became European Master on Silk and the only person in the world who can create museum-quality masterpieces. That’s how Violeta Lucce was born.
Violeta Lucce is a business created from our hearts and born from pure love. When we fused our talents and our hearts together into this creative venture, we knew we can do anything together.
Our first collection was simply nature hand-painted on silk, shoes, and handbags. In the beginning, everything was simple but very creative. When I look back… we were the first brand to paint on handbags and shoes. Nobody was doing it at that time. Still today, I haven’t seen anything as creative as we did 10 years ago. When we realized that it’s too complicated to deal with the sizing of the shoes and the quality of handbags, we focused on silk wearables.
Today, not only do we have a luxurious resort-wear collection, scarves, art couture, silk masks, but also a fine art Masterpiece collection, Bridal Couture collection, kids’ collection, and paintings on silk for the interiors. Our newest Violeta Lucce addition is an ocean collection of masterpieces carrying a message about plastic pollution in the oceans. One of the works of art was donated for Prince Albert’s II de Monaco Foundation to raise awareness and funds to clean up the plastic in the oceans and to restore the balance to endangered ecosystems. In addition to that, we also created a children’s book about plastic pollution in the oceans and its consequences.
Today, we transform women into WALKING ART just like I was dreaming years ago. We work together as a team, following our passion and listening to our hearts. That gift my sister created for my 30th birthday brought us to this moment.
Imagine, wearing an ORIGINAL PAINTING that is one in the entire world signed by the artist and takes 100-500 hours in the making. It is not a print… it is not a mass-produced piece that pollutes our Planet Earth… You are the owner of fine art couture that can also become an interior design detail appreciating within time just like famous paintings do and be given from generation to generation. We created a green brand that cares about our planet Earth, zooms into the details of nature, and reminds humanity that we are ONE and we are responsible. Violeta Lucce’s brand is timeless, it combines history, culture, nature, and feminine energy, transforming women into fine art masterpieces and reminding them of their uniqueness.
Today I am proud of what we have created and how much we evolved. Taking that step to the unknown and following my heart was the best decision of my life. We both found our purpose, our passion at the same time helping women to become the best version they were created to be, helping our planet Earth, and creating a green brand that raises awareness and carries powerful messages with each bespoke work of art.
Today our masterpieces can be seen on many red carpets, movie premieres, world-renowned galleries, and museums. I even speak on the world stages and collaborate with global companies that are driven by one goal – to protect our planet Earth and restore endangered ecosystems.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Since day one, I attended entrepreneurship conferences that tremendously helped me with connections resources, and knowledge. I still attend those conferences each year so I know I am not left behind in this entrepreneurial journey. The people I meet, the books I read, and the connections I make are priceless. I meet my clients there, I make new clients, create collaborations and partnerships.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our creative journey is driven by a mission to transform the fashion industry from destructive, polluting, fast, to green, protective, creating a positive impact on the environment. We are joining into the collective consciousness with many global organizations that have the same vision and work hard to create a positive change so that all of
our children can swim in plastic-free oceans and every child in the world would be protected
from being a victim of child labor working for fast fashion brands.
We even created Violeta Lucce Foundation to make a difference, create awareness and eliminate plastic waste on the beaches and in the ocean, Our hand-drawn educational children’s book made it’s way into 5 star hotels. We have created a collection of hand-painted silk masks that replace thousands of single use disposable masks making their way into the ocean. Everything we do or create is wrapped under this mission.
