We were lucky to catch up with Jupiter Nordstrom recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jupiter, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I’ve always dreamed of having a creative job so I became a hairstylist. I’ve been interested in hair since I was 5 years old and would braid my mom’s hair and give her fun updos.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Hi there! I’m Jupiter the Pixxie and my motto is, “Life’s not all rainbows and butterflies, but at least your hair can be!” I specialize in any and all color and rainbows, festival braids, hair care, haircuts, styling and makeup. My favorite thing to do is rainbow prisms. I discovered my love and passion for vivid color when I was about 12 years old. The alternative music scene of that time really influenced me to do unconventional things with my hair and experiment on it & now I get to do it for a living. I have been doing hair since 2012 and I love it!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

I’m constantly pushing myself to be a better stylist and to give my client’s a special one of a kind experience. I thrive when I am creating a hair master piece. My goal is to uplift others and to add some magic back into life. Life’s not all rainbows and butterflies but at least your hair can be.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding part of having a creative career the smile on my client’s faces when I’m doing with their hair. I love when my client’s fully trust me and let me do my thing. I love listening to music like Tame Impala or MGMT to get my creative energy flowing. It’s super fun getting to just create rad hair and listen to rad music all day. I feel so fulfilled in my career and that in itself is rewarding knowing I’m adding magic into people’s lives one hair color at a time.
