We were lucky to catch up with Jupiter in Scorpio recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jupiter in, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
In May 2024 I released my first music project in 9 years. It’s a mini-album entitled “Bedroom Sessions”, which includes 7 songs written by myself. I also handled the vocal production, arrangement, and some of the production.
All of the songs on this project were written across the past 5-12 years. Each one encapsulates a specific moment in my life, that I can recall with such clarity. Each one a reminder of when it was created, and what my life was at that time.
It touches on love, loss, mental illness, finding freedom
It took nearly a decade to get done but I’m finally able to kick back and celebrate my’ accomplishments

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jupiter in Scorpio! I’m a singer-songwriter, dancer, actor, choreographer, and producer.
“Jupiter” represents me as the artist
“Scorpio” represents the dimension that encapsulates my work.

When it comes to my platform, I have to wear many hats.
Writing is the easiest part for me. Most of the songs on “Bedroom Sessions” were written in about 10-15 minutes. Then I arrange the background vocals.
I record my music in my room, and begin edits prior to sending them to my producer, Peter Litvin, who I’ve worked with for over 10 years.. We then spend at least 4 sessions producing/re-producing the track, editing vocals, mixing, and mastering. I try to be as hands-on as possible in every aspect, because I’m very meticulous with the way my music is arranged.
I then have to choreograph the music. This is mostly to save costs on hiring a choreographer. I’m not a fan of choreographing, for myself, but after having done so, for the singles on “Bedroom Sessions, I’m looking forward to what I make in the future!
Next I have to conceptualize the visuals for the promotional videos (music videos, teasers), photos (promo photos, album artwork). This includes scouting locations, creating a budget plan, figuring out props, lighting, scheduling etc. I’ve learned how to start conceptualizing in ways where the concept is clear, and concise, while not trying to over plan, and over create. It usually leads to an emotional meltdown, when I do, because I’ve overwhelmed myself with too many responsibilities/expenses to handle on my own. That’s why the visuals for “Bedroom Sessions” are very minimalistic.
One of my favorite parts are rehearsals with my dancers. Right now I can only have two dancers at a time, but I have much bigger pictures in my head for my choreography. I look forward to being able to present a full image of my visions in future performances. I audition the dancers, teach the routines, and run the rehearsals on my own. A lot of times, at auditions, the dancers don’t know I’m the artist. I always find that entertaining. Again, it saves money; but I also love being hands-on with my dancers learning the choreography. My choreography can be a bit meticulous and so I’m the best one to explain the moves in depth, since I created them. I try to create a peaceful, but fun, and productive atmosphere at rehearsals. I want my dancers to feel at home when they’re with me.
While this is happening, I’m finalizing shoots and doing my best to phase into artist mode, so I can do my best in the performance aspect of my responsibilities. This gets difficult for me because I have so many things to pay attention to at one time. This is why I look forward to eventually having a team, and management.
Once all visuals are shot, I then edit them and prepare them for the release.
Then I anxiously sit and wait for the world to receive it.
My hand is in every pot when it comes to my platform. My blood, sweat, and tears are apart of the genetic makeup of my music, and I hope that reads when you partake in my content.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When I write my songs, 9/10 it comes from a personal experience. My goal is to write my music in a way where the lyrics can be interpreted, by the listener, and connected to their own experiences. I don’t think people need to share the exact same moments, in order to have the same outlook on a situation.
I love when a person tells me they’ve connected to one of my songs, in a way that’s completely different from the experiences that inspired it. It’s let me know I’ve done my job, and I’ve made my experience, and music, translatable to a broader audience.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Part of what took so long for me to release new music, were the many challenges I had to face in life.
I worked to make money for my music, but had little to no inspiration/energy to create, because all of my time and energy went to work. Not creating sent me into a depression. Depression created a writers block, and the writers block made me even more depressed, sending me into a constant rotation of mental anguish.
There reached a point where EVERYTHING had to be put to the back burner in order to me to focus on my mental wellness, and recovery.
