We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful “Julzz” Jazmin Ortiz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with “Julzz” Jazmin below.
“Julzz” Jazmin, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a nonbinary person in the LGBTQ+ community, finding service providers I felt truly safe and comfortable with was always a challenge. For years, I bounced between estheticians and hairstylists, never quite feeling seen—either as a client or an individual. Too often, I encountered inappropriate behavior during intimate services: sexual comments, invasive questions about my identity, and conversations that left me feeling objectified rather than cared for.
Eventually, enough was enough. I realized that if I was experiencing this, so many other queer and trans people were too. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands. I pursued the education I needed, graduated from Beauty Beauty International School, and earned my esthetics license so I could create the kind of environment I had always needed for myself.
Waxing, in particular, is an incredibly vulnerable service—one that requires compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of the body. Many of my previous estheticians lacked that. And for trans clients, especially those on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), the skin and hair can change significantly. Without proper education, that can lead to discomfort and even injury. I knew our community deserved better.
That’s why I created Euphoric Esthetics: a safe, affirming, and empowering space where queer and trans clients are truly honored. Here, my clients are celebrated—not alienated. Their identities are respected, their concerns are taken seriously, and their comfort is the foundation of every service.
Advocacy has always been a part of who I am. When I discovered a craft I genuinely excelled at, combining my passion for care with my commitment to community felt natural. My approach is unique because I’m not afraid to openly center queer and trans people in my work. Many avoid doing so out of fear—fear of backlash, of losing clients, of being “too specific.” But for me, it has never been about numbers. It has always been about principle, purpose, and creating the kind of experience my community deserves.
At Euphoric Esthetics, I don’t just offer services—I build relationships. I create unforgettable experiences and genuine connections, and those bonds are what keep my business thriving. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Julzz” Jazmin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always known that I wanted to spend my days helping others. Before I ever picked up a wax stick or performed a facial, I earned my psychology degree from Baruch College’s Macaulay Honors Program. Very quickly, I realized that the way I wanted to advocate for people had to be hands-on. I’ve always been an acts-of-service kind of person, and direct care felt like the place where my compassion, intuition, and desire to uplift others could truly shine.
I experimented with nails first, then hair—and eventually discovered waxing and facials. The moment I stepped into those services, everything clicked. It felt natural, intuitive, and purposeful. Pairing that feeling with my commitment to creating safe spaces—especially in vulnerable environments for queer and trans individuals—made it clear that this was the path I was meant to follow.
With three years of experience and a home-based beginning in the Bronx, I was finally able to open my own beauty suite in July 2024. From here, I offer services ranging from full-body waxing to customized facials designed to treat a variety of skin types and concerns. I’ve become especially known for my deeply relaxing face, shoulder, and neck massages during treatments—many clients say they leave feeling ten times lighter than when they arrived.
My background in psychology plays a huge role in how I show up for my clients. I connect with people authentically, creating a sense of comfort and trust that helps even my waxing clients feel at ease. Many of them tell me they barely feel the pain at all because our conversation and connection keep them grounded.
Over the years, I’ve received beautiful feedback—from text messages to Google reviews—about how clients’ skin has transformed, how their confidence has grown, and how they walk out of my suite feeling genuinely better about themselves. That is the true reward for me.
I approach my business with intention. Yes, financial stability matters, but I’m a firm believer that not all money is good money. I am intentional about everything: the content I post, the clients I accept, and the energy I bring into my space. My purpose has never been performative. My work is human, grounded, and real. I focus on connection, not on selling a fantasy.
My guiding statement, “self-care has no gender,” has resonated so deeply that I’ve seen other brands adopt it—and I love that. Because it’s true: gender is not a prerequisite for taking care of yourself. You don’t have to explain who you are to walk through my door. Just come as you are.
In this current climate, where trans women—especially Black trans women—remain one of the most targeted and persecuted groups, I’ve committed myself to giving back in meaningful ways. I recently launched a special initiative offering free waxes for “the dolls,” as a small gesture toward creating at least one truly safe space for them. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, affirmed, and cared for.
Working with intention is what sets me apart. Euphoric Esthetics is more than a service—it’s a sanctuary. And I’ll never stray from my mission: to create a space where all people, especially queer and trans individuals, can feel safe, respected, and celebrated.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I was never someone who gravitated toward social media—at least not until I realized it was essential for growing my business. I began on Instagram, but quickly noticed that my content wasn’t reaching new audiences. It felt like the same small circle was seeing and liking my posts, and my message wasn’t expanding the way I needed it to.
Then I found TikTok.
TikTok completely transformed my business. It opened the door to an entirely new audience and gave me a platform where my work, my mission, and my personality could shine organically. I’ve received both love and criticism online, but regardless, the visibility has pushed my business forward in ways I never expected.
If I had one piece of advice for other entrepreneurs stepping into the world of content creation, it would be this: create content **you** would actually watch. Do what feels natural to you, then weave your business into it. When you try to create content the other way around—forcing yourself into trends or styles that don’t match your personality—it loses authenticity. And audiences can always feel the difference.
Authenticity is what resonates. It’s what grows communities. And in my case, it’s what allowed my business to thrive.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I make it a priority to personally check in with my clients. It may seem like a lot, but as a smaller business, I still have the capacity to offer that level of individualized care—and it matters to me. I also use automated reminders through my booking system to help clients stay on track with their appointments, making their routine easier and more consistent. And from time to time, I surprise my most loyal clients with a special coupon as a way of showing my appreciation.
