We were lucky to catch up with Julius Hall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Julius, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
Start right now, don’t wait. I waited 13 years to publish my books, Thirteen years is a long time. I should have published my books soon after I wrote them. I can’t get back that lost time. Tell your story, nobody knows you as well as you do. Everybody can’t do what you do. Not everybody is gifted. Understand your gift, and use it to elevate yourself, your platform, and others.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Julius Hall. I started ATR Consulting LLC 5 years ago. ATR stands for All Things Relevant. I started with one podcast and now I produce over 20 that we play 7 days a week, 16 hours a day. We have our own Roku Channel ( Our Black Media), and we publish 4-to 5 monthly magazines, ( Hello Savannah, Hello Atlanta, Hello Jacksonville, and Hello Africa. Our publications can be found at www.atrmediagroup.com. We are scheduled to start our digital radio station this spring ( Hot 2100 Savannah). I just published my autobiography and my book of poetry and have started writing part 2 of my autobiography. My book is “Crossing The Line, The Julius Hall Story”. And my book of poetry is titled ” The Journey”. My full-time day job is being a Political & Business Consultant. I help get people elected to office and in the business sector, I help people with business issues that they need assistance with.
My life story is very interesting I think. I was a police officer before I went to federal prison for 21.5 years. I came home in 2013 and rebuilt my life. You’ll have to read the book to get the whole story.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honesty. I tell the truth. In the businesses I’m in, you must tell the truth. I advise a lot of people every day. Trust is key in the relationships I’ve built. Trust is important in networking. We give information to Our Community, the black community, Black people already have a trust deficit, especially amongst other blacks. At Our Black Media, we give you the real story, raw & uncut.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
God has been so good to me. I often tell myself that I’m on a mission to do what God has planned for my life. When I was about to give up, people walked in from out of nowhere and supported me. When I was about to throw the towel in, God sent me funding to keep moving forward. When the devil had my helpers quit or leave town to pursue other things, God sent me someone that was better than the one leaving. Then he sent me a dream client, and I’ve been grinding every since.
